The cherry blossom, or Sakura, holds deep cultural significance in Japan, symbolising the rhythms of nature, renewal, and the transient beauty of life. This philosophy forms the core of the Phantom Cherry Blossom, envisioned as a legacy piece to be passed down through generations.

The project began three years ago with Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke artisans working closely with the client in Japan to understand their vision. The result is an extraordinary expression of artistry and cultural reverence, now delivered to its custodian in Japan.

Inside, the car features a stunning 250,000-stitch embroidery, capturing the experience of sitting beneath a blooming cherry tree during Hanami. The Bespoke Starlight Headliner displays a cherry bough with white blossoms, while falling petals are delicately embroidered on the rear doors and Privacy Suite partition. This detailed embroidery, developed over six months, includes a rare offset tatami stitch, inspired by traditional Japanese weaving techniques.

The design seamlessly connects 11 individual embroidery panels into a single flowing composition. Satin-stitched petals reflect light at varying angles, enhancing the jewel-like quality of the cabin’s ambience.

For the first time in a Rolls-Royce, three-dimensional embroidery has been introduced. Sculptural cherry petals, handcrafted and individually stitched, add a tactile layer of visual depth to the Privacy Suite divider. Developed using a new technique where thread is layered into self-supporting forms, the petals are positioned to interact with the cabin lighting, casting soft, natural shadows.

The Sakura theme continues with bespoke umbrellas featuring a falling petal motif and a hand-painted coachline on the car’s Crystal over Arctic White exterior. The coachline subtly tapers along the rear passenger door and concludes with a cherry blossom detail, offering a refined hint of the craftsmanship within.
