The Denza Z9 GT is set to be launched in Malaysia on 15 July, following an earlier preview at the Sime Motors MotorExpo. Shown previously in right-hand-drive form, the Z9 GT will sit as Denza’s flagship luxury performance EV for Malaysia and is set to be one of the most powerful cars officially sold here.

The Denza Z9 GT EV uses a tri-motor all-wheel drive setup producing a combined 850 kW, or around 1,156 PS, and 1,210 Nm of torque. According to Denza, the Z9 GT EV is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds, with a top speed of 269 km/h.

That puts the Z9 GT in very serious performance territory, with figures that place it above many established performance EVs and super saloons. Unlike a conventional sedan, however, the Z9 GT is shaped as a low-slung luxury electric shooting brake, giving it a more unusual position in the market.

In terms of size, the Z9 GT measures 5,180 mm long, 1,990 mm wide and 1,490 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm. That makes it a large car, but Denza has given it a relatively long and low stance, with a design language it calls “Elegance in Motion”.

Exterior highlights include slim dual-bar LED headlights, flush door handles, a long roofline, wide rear haunches and full-width rear lighting. For the Malaysian launch, two exterior colours have been highlighted, namely Rime Gold and Obsidian Black.

The 2026 model also gets a roof-mounted lidar sensor and new 20-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels, as seen on the preview car shown earlier. The car also features an AR Projection Auto Rear Gate system, where the tailgate can automatically open when the driver steps on a projected logo. The suspension can also automatically lower to make loading and unloading easier.

Underneath, the Z9 GT is based on BYD’s e3 platform. Its tri-motor setup consists of a front motor producing 230 kW and 410 Nm, while the two rear motors produce a combined 620 kW and 800 Nm. The rear motors are independently controlled, allowing the car to vary power distribution between the rear wheels.
