BMW telah mendedahkan BMW i3 (NA0) serba baharu, model 3 Series elektrik yang pertama serta model kedua di bawah platform Neue Klasse.

Di Eropah pada masa pelancaran, i3 ditawarkan sebagai i3 50 xDrive, menggunakan sistem pacuan semua roda dengan dua motor elektrik, iaitu EESM di belakang dan ASM di hadapan. Jumlah output sistem ialah 469 PS (345 kW) dan 645 Nm. Jarak pemanduan dianggarkan sehingga 900 km (WLTP), hasil penggunaan teknologi eDrive generasi keenam serta bateri sel silinder baharu.

Pengecasan menyokong sehingga 400 kW DC, dengan BMW mendakwa sehingga 400 km jarak boleh ditambah dalam 10 minit. Pengecasan AC sehingga 22 kW turut disediakan. Fungsi pengecasan dua hala turut ditawarkan, termasuk vehicle-to-load (V2L), vehicle-to-home (V2H) dan vehicle-to-grid (V2G).

Elemen luaran utama termasuk rekaan hadapan baharu dengan integrasi lampu dan gril, profil shark-nose, lengkungan roda yang lebih lebar serta rim sehingga 21 inci.

Ini menjadikannya lebih besar berbanding 3 Series generasi G20.

Casis menggunakan MacPherson strut (hadapan) dan suspensi lima pautan (belakang), dengan pilihan adaptive M suspension untuk varian AWD.

BMW i3 ini turut memperkenalkan sistem kawalan baharu “Heart of Joy”, yang menguruskan pacuan, brek, stereng dan regeneratif. BMW menyatakan sistem ini beroperasi sehingga 10 kali lebih pantas berbanding sistem terdahulu.

Di dalam, i3 menampilkan sistem BMW Panoramic iDrive, menggantikan kluster instrumen tradisional dengan paparan unjuran penuh merentasi bahagian bawah cermin hadapan.

Ini dipadankan dengan skrin sentuh tengah 17.9 inci serta pilihan paparan head-up 3D, semuanya beroperasi melalui BMW Operating System X. Sistem ini menggabungkan kawalan sentuhan, suara dan haptik, bersama stereng pelbagai fungsi rekaan baharu.

Pengeluaran BMW i3 baharu akan bermula pada Ogos 2026 di kilang BMW Munich, dengan pelancaran pasaran Eropah dijangka pada separuh kedua tahun ini.

BMW has officially revealed the all-new 2026 BMW i3 (NA0), the brand’s first fully electric 3 Series and the second model under its Neue Klasse platform.

At launch, the i3 will be offered as the i3 50 xDrive, featuring a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup combining an electrically excited synchronous motor (EESM) at the rear and an asynchronous motor (ASM) at the front. Total system output is rated at 469 PS (345 kW) and 645 Nm.

Driving range is claimed at up to 900 km (WLTP), enabled by BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology and new cylindrical battery cells.

Charging supports up to 400 kW DC, with BMW claiming up to 400 km of range can be added in just 10 minutes. AC charging of up to 22 kW is also supported. Bi-directional charging is included, supporting vehicle-to-load (V2L), vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) functions.

Despite its EV underpinnings, the i3 retains a traditional sedan form with BMW’s new 2.5-box design language, featuring a long wheelbase, short overhangs and a more upright silhouette. Dimensions are 4,760 mm, 1,865 mm, 1,480 mm, and 2,897 mm in length, width, height, and wheelbase respectively. This makes it larger than the G20 BMW 3 Series.

Key exterior elements include a reinterpretation of BMW’s front end with integrated lighting and grille elements, a shark-nose profile, flared wheel arches and up to 21-inch wheels.

The chassis features MacPherson struts (front) and a five-link rear suspension, with adaptive M suspension available on AWD variants. The i3 debuts BMW’s new “Heart of Joy” high-performance control unit, which manages drivetrain, braking, steering and energy recuperation. BMW says the system operates up to 10 times faster than previous architectures, enabling more precise handling and smoother driving responses.

Inside, the i3 introduces BMW’s Panoramic iDrive system, replacing the traditional instrument cluster with a full-width projection display spanning the base of the windscreen.

This is paired with a 17.9-inch central touchscreen and an optional 3D head-up display, all powered by BMW Operating System X. The system integrates touch, voice and haptic controls, alongside a redesigned multifunction steering wheel.

Production of the new BMW i3 will begin in August 2026 at BMW’s Munich plant, with market launch in Europe expected later in the year.

Visually, the 330Li M Sport preserves the hallmark design of the 3 Series, combining elegance with a clear sporting edge. Its signature kidney grille, finished in Pearl Chrome, lends the front fascia a commanding presence. Flanking the grille are slimmer adaptive LED headlamps, offering enhanced road illumination and reinforcing the vehicle’s sharp, modern aesthetic. The side profile benefits from an extended wheelbase, improving rear legroom and comfort without compromising the sleek proportions characteristic of the 3 Series lineage.

Inside, the cabin exemplifies contemporary luxury, led by the fully digital BMW Curved Display. This setup merges a 12.3-inch instrument panel with a 14.9-inch control display, both operating on the latest BMW Operating System 8.5. The system introduces a more intuitive interface with QuickSelect functionality, granting easier access to navigation, media, and vehicle settings. Newly integrated air vents, premium Galvanic Controls, and crystal elements — such as the Crafted Clarity gear selector and iDrive controller — enhance the vehicle’s tactile sophistication.

Acoustically, the vehicle is equipped with a 16-speaker Harman Kardon Surround Sound system delivering 464 watts of rich, immersive audio throughout the cabin, ensuring a refined auditory experience for both driver and passengers.

The 330Li M Sport’s mechanical credentials are anchored by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 258 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. This powerplant propels the sedan from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h. With precise handling and exceptional road composure, the model is further supported by a suite of advanced driver assistance systems, including Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go, Parking Assistant Plus, and a Tyre Pressure Indicator.

Priced at RM320,800, the 330Li M Sport is offered in three distinctive exterior colours — Carbon Black, M Brooklyn Grey, and Arctic Race Blue — the model is available with high-quality interior upholstery in either Leather Vernasca Mocha or Leather Vernasca Cognac, blending comfort with visual elegance.

In parallel with the launch, BMW Malaysia highlighted its commitment to customer care through its ownership programme, Relax. We Care. This initiative underscores BMW’s promise of providing uninterrupted driving pleasure through a holistic 360-degree ownership experience. Services under this initiative include BMW Proactive Care — a predictive maintenance system utilising real-time data to alert users of potential issues — and BMW ConnectedDrive, enabling over-the-air software updates and remote vehicle management.

Additionally, new customers benefit from the BMW Service & Repair Inclusive (BSRI) programme, which includes a five-year unlimited mileage warranty and five years or 100,000 km of service coverage. For electric vehicle customers, BMW extends service coverage to six years with unlimited mileage, alongside an eight-year warranty on high-voltage batteries. BMW Roadside Assistance remains available 24/7, covering towing, courtesy cars, and accommodation in emergencies.

To mark the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, BMW Malaysia is also offering limited-time incentives on selected models. Customers booking between 1 and 31 May 2025 will receive a complimentary one-year BSI Extension and a first-year motor insurance subsidy worth RM5,000 through the Easy Drive financing programme. These offers apply to selected models across the 3 Series, 5 Series, 7 Series, and BMW X range.

The 2025 BMW 3 Series introduces two new metallic colour options:

• Fire Red metallic
• Arctic Race Blue metallic

These join the existing palette of Alpine White, Black Sapphire metallic, M Brooklyn Grey metallic, and M Carbon Black metallic to give customers more choices for personalization.

Sportiness Meets Innovation

With its modernised design elements, advanced digital systems, and enhanced driving dynamics, the new BMW 3 Series is set to deliver a superior driving experience while maintaining its reputation as a sporty and versatile sedan.

BMW Malaysia’s updates reflect the brand’s commitment to providing cutting-edge innovations tailored for the local market, ensuring the BMW 3 Series remains a benchmark in the premium mid-sized sedan segment.

The new GT models boast a significant power boost. The twin-turbocharged inline-six engine now delivers 529hp, an increase of 34hp, and 729Nm of torque. This positions the Alpina B3 GT sedan and B3 GT Touring, along with the B4 GT Gran Coupe, on par with BMW’s M3 Competition models.

Alpina has attributed this power increase to revised engine mapping. The enhanced performance allows the B3 GT sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds. The B3 GT Touring and B4 GT Gran Coupe achieve this in 3.5 seconds. All models feature power distribution to all four wheels through a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.

Visually, the GT versions maintain a subtle yet distinctive look. They feature small canards and a front splitter, along with a redesigned black diffuser and new exhaust tips. Alpina’s signature shades of blue and green are available, alongside a broad range of BMW Individual colours. The Alpina badging is prominent on both the exterior and interior, including the GT script in Oro Tecnico.

The B3 GT is offered in both sedan and wagon trims. These models, based on the 3 Series, sport the smaller grille compared to the M3, providing a different aesthetic choice for buyers. The B4 GT, available in Gran Coupe format, shares the same power and performance enhancements.

These models will be exclusive to the European market, with deliveries starting in November. Pricing begins at 101,700 Euros (RMRM518,008) for the B3 sedan, 102,900 Euros (RM524,098) for the B3 Touring, and 105,100 Euros (RM535,348) for the B4 GT Gran Coupe.
