The ES90 will serve as the electric successor to the S90, representing Volvo’s push to offer a fully electric lineup by 2030. The ES90 will be available in both single-motor, rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor, all-wheel-drive variants, with the latter producing up to 670hp and capable of accelerating from 0–100km/h in about four seconds.

Battery capacity options are expected to range from 92 kWh to 106 kWh, offering a driving range of up to 700km (WLTP) depending on the variant. Charging from 10–80% can take as little as 20 minutes under ideal conditions.

The ES90’s design, though still covered in test mules, hints at a sleek and elongated profile with signature Thor’s Hammer LED headlights, flush door handles, and a minimalist Scandinavian aesthetic. Inside, the sedan is expected to feature a portrait-oriented touchscreen running Google’s Android Automotive OS, a Bowers & Wilkins audio system, and high-quality sustainable materials throughout the cabin.

Safety remains a key focus, as with all Volvo vehicles. The ES90 is expected to feature LiDAR-based driver assistance technology, advanced radar and camera systems, and over-the-air software updates to enhance performance and safety over time.

The spotting of the ES90 in Malaysia indicates Volvo’s commitment to expanding its electric offerings beyond SUVs. With local assembly operations already established for models like the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge, the ES90 could potentially join them as part of Volvo’s CKD (Completely Knocked Down) initiative.

Once launched, the ES90 will likely compete against other premium electric sedans such as the BMW i5 and Mercedes-Benz EQE, offering Malaysian buyers a Scandinavian alternative that balances elegance, sustainability, and innovation.

While Volvo Car Malaysia has yet to confirm an official launch date, we anticipate a 2026 launch, aligning with the brand’s ongoing rollout of next-generation EVs across Asia.

At the core of the new P7’s technological suite are three proprietary XPeng Turing chips, working in tandem with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295P processor. The upgraded model comes with support for 5C ultra-fast charging across all variants, enabling significantly reduced charging times. The vehicle will be offered in three configurations, delivering an impressive CLTC-certified driving range of up to 820km, depending on variant.

Visually, the latest P7 introduces the ‘Xmart Face’ front fascia, characterised by a continuous star-ring light strip intersected with vertical beams that form an H-shaped lighting signature. This design language is echoed at the rear, where matching H-style tail lamps and an active rear spoiler reinforce the vehicle’s symmetrical visual identity. A full-width tailgate and integrated blue-lit intelligent driving indicators in the rear bumper complete the aerodynamic profile. The body achieves a drag coefficient of just 0.201 Cd, enhancing overall efficiency.

Design elements include blacked-out A-pillars for a floating roof effect and X-pattern wheels inspired by the XPeng logo. Interestingly, the centre wheel caps display “XPENG” in text rather than the brand’s emblem, signalling a subtle shift in branding.

The interior is anchored by what XPeng calls its “Technology Island” dashboard. Central to this is an expansive 87-inch augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD) that combines Huawei-supplied hardware with XPeng’s proprietary software. The single-motor rear-wheel drive variant produces 367hp, while the dual-motor all-wheel drive model generates a combined output of 595hp. Customers can choose between lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium battery options, with capacities of 74.9 kWh and 92.2 kWh, respectively.

The vehicle supports high-powered charging of up to 486 kW, allowing a 10-minute charge to add up to 512km of range. Charging from 10% to 80% can be completed in just 11.3 minutes, placing the P7 among the fastest-charging vehicles in its class.

Driving range varies by configuration, with the standard model rated at 702km, the long-range version at 820km, and the all-wheel drive variant delivering 750km, figures based on China’s CLTC testing cycle.

The revamped P7 enters a competitive segment of the EV market and will be positioned against strong rivals such as the Tesla Model 3, Xiaomi SU7, Zeekr 001, and BYD Han L. Pricing details are expected to be disclosed in late August when the vehicle is officially launched to the public.

XPeng’s latest offering underscores its ambition to lead the premium electric sedan market, combining bold aesthetics with groundbreaking performance and next-generation connectivity.

The variant line-up includes the 430 Comfort Edition priced at 89,800 yuan (approximately RM58,900), 550 Comfort at 95,800 yuan (RM62,900), 550 Enjoy at 103,800 yuan (RM68,100), and 550 LiDAR Edition at 113,800 yuan (RM74,700). The longer-range 650 Enjoy Edition comes in at 109,800 yuan (RM72,100), while the flagship 650 LiDAR Edition tops the list at 119,800 yuan (RM78,700).

Built on the manufacturer’s LEAP 3.5 modular platform, the B01 boasts a remarkably low drag coefficient of 0.197 Cd. In terms of size, it measures 4,770 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,490 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,735 mm—positioning it closely alongside the Tesla Model 3 in the mid-size electric sedan segment. Depending on the trim, the curb weight ranges from 1,550 kg to 1,711 kg.

All B01 variants utilise a rear-wheel-drive setup and feature different powertrains to match performance demands. The 430 Comfort Edition is equipped with a 134hp electric motor delivering 175Nm of torque, drawing energy from a 43.9 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. It achieves a top speed of 150km/h and accelerates from 0–100km/h in 9.4 seconds.

The mid-range 550 variants offer two motor options—either 177hp or a more potent 215hp version, with up to 240Nm of torque, powered by a 56.2 kWh LFP battery. These models hit 160km/h, with the quickest acceleration time recorded at 6.4 seconds.

The high-end 650 Enjoy and LiDAR Editions feature the same 215hp motor with 240Nm, paired with a larger 67.1 kWh LFP battery. Top speed remains at 160km/h, with a 0–100km/h sprint time of 6.5 seconds.

On the technology front, the B01 is equipped with Leapmotor Pilot—an advanced driver assistance system powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8650 chip. The standard safety suite includes five cameras and 12 ultrasonic radars, while premium versions gain 10 cameras, three millimetre-wave radars, and a 128-line lidar sensor with a 300-metre range and 140° field of view. Altogether, the system enables 26 autonomous driving features, including navigation on autopilot in city and highway settings, as well as comprehensive parking assistance.

The interior of the B01 is designed with a strong focus on comfort and digital functionality. Buyers can select either a grey or purple cabin theme, both of which are anchored by a flat-bottom steering wheel, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 14.6-inch 2.5K central touchscreen. AI voice command functionality is supported through integration with DeepSeek’s proprietary AI model.

To enhance practicality, six modular “magic expansion holes” are located in front of the front passenger seat, allowing users to attach various add-ons such as foldable tables and smartphone mounts. Luggage space is also generous, offering 460 litres of cargo capacity.

Volvo Cars has officially unveiled the updated Volvo S90, a sleek and sophisticated evolution of its flagship sedan, now featuring a comprehensive suite of premium design elements, cutting-edge technology, and electrified powertrains aimed at enhancing comfort, safety and driving experience.

The new S90 embodies the Swedish automaker’s shift towards full electrification, offering both plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid variants. It blends modern Scandinavian aesthetics with advanced functionality, reaffirming Volvo’s commitment to innovation and sustainable luxury.

From the outside, the refreshed S90 presents a more contemporary and refined appearance. The redesigned front and rear fascias give the sedan a more assertive and polished silhouette, complemented by clean lines and an updated front grille with bold graphic detailing. A sculpted bonnet, reworked front wings, and a sharper front bumper contribute to the S90’s poised stance.

In parallel with the EV4’s launch, Kia has revealed the Concept EV2, a bold interpretation of the brand’s future compact EV offerings. Expected to be one of the most affordable models in Kia’s electric lineup, the Concept EV2 is set to make its market debut in 2026. While detailed specifications remain under wraps, the concept signals Kia’s intent to expand its EV portfolio across various segments.

The unveiling of these models underscores Kia’s aggressive push toward electrification, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable and technologically advanced mobility solutions. With the EV4 set to redefine electric sedans and the Concept EV2 paving the way for affordable EVs, Kia continues to position itself as a leader in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle landscape.

The EV4 sedan will be produced at Kia’s Autoland Gwangmyeong EVO Plant in Korea, while the hatchback will be produced only in Slovakia, primarily targeting sales in Europe. Production will commence in mid-March for the Korean sedan model, and the second half of the year for the Europe-only EV4 hatchback. Production for North America and other regions is planned for later in the year.

The ES90 is Volvo’s most advanced car in terms of core computing power. It will be the first model to feature a dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin configuration, delivering 508 trillion operations per second (TOPS). The GAC Aion ES is powered by a single front-wheel-drive motor delivering 134hp and 225Nm of torque, paired with a 55.2 kWh LFP Magazine battery. This configuration provides an impressive driving range of 442 km under the NEDC standard and 364 km under the WLTP testing standard. Charging is user-friendly, with an AC single-phase on-board charger rated at 6.6 kW requiring approximately 11 hours for a full charge.

For faster recharging, the sedan supports DC fast charging up to 60 kW, enabling a 30-80% charge in just 30 minutes. Additionally, the Aion ES includes a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function that allows the battery to power external appliances with an output of up to 3.3 kW, offering greater utility and versatility.

This is the second GAC EV introduced to Malaysia by WTCA, following the launch of the Aion Y Plus. The company has ambitious plans to expand its lineup further, introducing a mix of internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid, and electric models over the next five years. While retaining the signature Kodo design language, it introduces new elements such as a partially illuminated grille and pop-out door handles. The taillights and headlights draw comparisons to Jaguar designs, while an unexpected active spoiler adds a touch of sportiness. Measuring 4919mm in length, 1889mm in width, and 1483mm in height, the EZ-6 is slightly larger than its predecessor.

Sporting 19-inch aero wheels, the Mazda EZ-6 features a large panoramic glass roof and frameless doors, enhancing its premium appeal. Reports suggest it shares its platform with the Changan Shenlan SL03 but offers a more upscale interior design. While diverging from Mazda’s global offerings, the cabin boasts an appealing aesthetic, highlighted by a full-length “floating” centre console.

Early specifications reveal that the Mazda EZ-6 boasts a rear-wheel-drive setup for the electric model, achieving a perfect 50:50 weight distribution and employing a multi-link rear suspension. The battery pack, while unspecified, offers an impressive range of 600km per the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC). Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid variant can cover 1,000km on a combined petrol and electric powertrain.

Scheduled to go on sale in China following its debut at the Beijing Motor Show, this electric/plug-in hybrid mid-size sedan is not expected to be exported to other markets.

Built on the Electric Premium Architecture (EPA) platform, a product of Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), the Emeya boasts a 102 kWh battery pack, delivering an impressive range expected to rival the Eletre’s outstanding 600km range on the WLTP cycle. Despite its slightly smaller battery pack compared to the Eletre, the Emeya compensates with 350 kW of quick charging power. With a 350 kW DC fast charger, the Emeya can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in just 18 minutes, adding 150 km to its range in only five minutes.

Performance is a key highlight of the Emeya, featuring a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system generating 905hp and 985Nm of torque. Lotus claims the Emeya can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.78 seconds, with a peak speed of 256km/h.

The Emeya’s bold and angular design language closely mirrors that of the Eletre, featuring sleek lighting units and a contoured hood for a distinctive aesthetic. Inside, the Emeya offers a host of technology innovations and sustainable materials, including a cutting-edge KEF 3D surround sound system with noise suppression technology and vibration sensors for enhanced audio quality. Luxurious materials such as Alcantara, ultra-fabric polyurethane, and Nappa leather adorn the interior, blending luxury with ecological consciousness.

With pricing expected to start from RM650,000, bookings for the Lotus Emeya in Malaysia are now open at the Lotus showroom in Pavilion Damansara, offering customers the opportunity to experience the future of electric luxury sedans firsthand.

Afeela plans to launch the sedan in the U.S. in 2026, following its debut in 2025. While orders for the sedan will open in 2025, actual sales are expected to commence the following year.

In addition to the sedan, Afeela intends to introduce two more electric vehicles in the coming years. In 2027, an electric SUV closely related to the sedan will be introduced, followed by a more affordable compact model in 2028. These models will share a platform to reduce costs and development time.

The compact model, roughly the size of a Toyota Corolla, will likely share parts with Honda’s lineup of EVs. To keep costs down, certain equipment and functions may be omitted from the compact model.

Reports indicate that the Afeela sedan will be priced at over 10 million yen in Japan, approximately RM318,189.
