Lexus has officially unveiled the facelifted ES sedan in China, showcasing a refreshed design, updated lighting elements, and a more advanced infotainment system. The updates enhance the sedan’s premium appeal while incorporating the latest technology and styling cues from the brand.

Exterior Enhancements

The most noticeable changes to the ES sedan are at the front, where the signature spindle grille now features horizontal slats, replacing the previous vertical design. The headlight internals have been reworked, incorporating double L-shaped daytime running lights for a sharper look, while larger faux side air intakes add a touch of aggressiveness.

At the rear, the tail-light graphics have been updated to include the new double-L signature, aligning with Lexus’ current design language. Additional tweaks to the lower bumper garnishes and the replacement of the L-in-a-circle logo with a “Lexus” word mark provide a modernised aesthetic.

Interior Upgrades

Inside, the ES gains a significant technology boost with the introduction of a larger 14.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, replacing the previous 12.3-inch unit. Positioned atop the climate control strip, which features physical knobs for added convenience, the screen dominates the redesigned dashboard.

To accommodate the larger screen, the central air vents have been relocated to the lower portion of the dashboard, ensuring a seamless integration with the cabin’s layout.

Powertrain Options in China

The Chinese market offers two drivetrain options for the updated ES:

• ES 200: Powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 170hp and 206Nm, paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) driving the front wheels.
• ES 300h: A hybrid model combining a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with Toyota’s e-CVT system, delivering a total output of 214hp.

Current Availability in Malaysia

In Malaysia, Lexus currently offers the ES 250 sedan, which starts at RM320,888. The ES 250 is equipped with a 2.5-litre petrol engine and a luxurious suite of features catering to discerning buyers in the premium sedan segment.

While there is no confirmation yet on when the facelifted ES will arrive in Malaysia, the updates to its design, technology, and drivetrain options hint at a promising refresh for Lexus enthusiasts worldwide.
