Geely secara rasmi memperkenalkan Emgrand generasi kelima, sekali gus menampilkan imej baharu bagi sedan enjin petrol terbarunya. Model ini hadir dengan dimensi lebih besar, enjin lebih berkuasa, serta rekaan lebih tajam berbanding generasi terdahulu.

Dari segi saiz, Emgrand kini berukuran 4,815mm panjang, 1,885mm lebar, dan 1,480mm tinggi, dengan jarak roda 2,755mm. Jika dibandingkan dengan model generasi keempat yang berukuran 4,638/1,820/1,460mm dengan jarak roda 2,650mm, peningkatan ini jelas menjadikan sedan baharu ini lebih menguasai jalan raya, di samping menawarkan ruang kabin yang lebih luas dan selesa.

Bahagian hadapan menampilkan gril berbentuk poligon ala “waterfall” dengan 12 jalur menegak yang kini disusun lebih jarang, memberikan penampilan lebih kemas. Lampu utama turut direka semula dengan pancaran lebih luas sehingga 170 meter, meningkatkan tahap keselamatan pemanduan malam.

Rekaan belakang pula menampilkan lampu belakang nipis memanjang yang dihubungkan jalur hiasan dengan tulisan GEELY terkini. Bampar belakang turut diberi sentuhan perincian perak serta dwi-ekzos palsu, menambah aura sporty.

Kuasa disalurkan melalui enjin 1.5 liter pengecas turbo yang menghasilkan 178hp dan 290Nm tork, dengan kelajuan maksimum mencecah 200km/j. Ini merupakan lonjakan besar berbanding model terdahulu yang hanya menggunakan enjin 1.5 liter NA dengan 118hp dan 150Nm tork, dipadankan dengan transmisi 8CVT.

Ruang dalaman menerima transformasi menyeluruh. Ia menampilkan stereng pelbagai fungsi bentuk rata, paparan instrumen digital, serta skrin infotainmen terapung bersaiz besar 14.6 inci dengan sistem Flyme Auto. Sentuhan krom menambah kemewahan, manakala pad pengecas tanpa wayar 50W dan tombol gear baharu meningkatkan keselesaan moden. Walaupun serba digital, butang fizikal penting masih dikekalkan untuk memudahkan pengguna.

Bagi pasaran Malaysia, nama Emgrand tidak asing lagi kerana Proton S70, yang dilancarkan pada 2023, dibina berasaskan Emgrand generasi keempat. Model S70 kini ditawarkan dalam empat varian: 1.5T Executive (RM73,800), 1.5T Premium (RM79,800), 1.5T Flagship (RM89,800), dan 1.5T Flagship X (RM94,800).

Buat masa ini, Proton belum mengumumkan sama ada Emgrand generasi kelima akan menjadi asas kepada versi baharu S70. Namun, peningkatan dari segi saiz, prestasi dan kelengkapan jelas menunjukkan usaha Geely untuk terus memacu segmen sedan ke tahap lebih tinggi.

Visually, the Starshine 6 follows Geely’s familiar “Galaxy Ripple” design philosophy. The front end carries a large polygonal grille with vertically arranged chrome strips, framed by a secondary lower grille and sharp, angular headlamps. The overall impression has drawn comparisons to styling cues often seen on German marques.

At the rear, the car adopts a layered full-width taillight signature, complemented by a subtle roof spoiler and a dual-tone bumper finished in either silver or black. Customers will have a choice of 16-inch or 17-inch wheels, along with options such as a sunroof. Unlike many of today’s EV-inspired models, Geely has opted for traditional door handles instead of the increasingly popular flush-fit design.

In terms of size, the Starshine 6 measures 4,806 mm in length, 1,886 mm in width and 1,490 mm in height, riding on a 2,756 mm wheelbase, making it slightly bigger than the current generation Honda Civic. Curb weight varies between 1,505 kg and 1,580 kg depending on specification.

Under the skin, the Starshine 6 is expected to feature Geely’s latest Thor EM-i super hybrid system, the same unit already available in the Galaxy A7. Certification filings with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) confirm the car will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 110hp, paired with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack supplied by CALB-Tech. Two battery options will be offered — 8.5 kWh and 17 kWh — delivering a pure-electric driving range of around 50 km and 100 km, respectively, likely under WLTC testing conditions.

The sedan’s top speed has been rated at 180km/h. However, Geely has yet to release full technical details of the electric motor output or the combined driving range.

With its blend of sleek styling, competitive dimensions and the latest iteration of Geely’s hybrid system, the Starshine 6 is expected to appeal to buyers seeking an affordable yet advanced entry into electrified motoring.

A key highlight of the revamped plug-in hybrids is the newly upgraded battery. With a net capacity of 20.7 kWh—around 45 percent more than its predecessor—the battery enables the vehicles to travel over 100km purely on electric power under the WLTP combined cycle. Specifically, the A6 Sedan is capable of reaching up to 111km of electric range in urban conditions, while the Avant achieves up to 106km. Even at higher speeds, the A6 can maintain fully electric propulsion up to an electronically limited 140km/h.

The two powertrain options deliver impressive torque and acceleration. The base version generates 450Nm and accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in six seconds, while the higher-powered model outputs 500Nm and completes the sprint in just 5.3 seconds. For those seeking greater performance, Audi still offers more powerful V6 mild-hybrid and high-performance S and RS variants.

Despite the performance credentials, efficiency and comfort remain central to the new e-hybrid A6 models. Audi has upgraded the AC charging capacity to 11 kW, enabling a full recharge in just two and a half hours when the battery is fully depleted. The electric motor, producing 141hp, is housed within the seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission, delivering full torque from near idle for seamless acceleration.

The A6 e-hybrid also benefits from Audi’s quattro ultra all-wheel-drive system and rear-wheel steering, enhancing both agility at low speeds and stability at higher speeds. These technologies contribute to a refined driving experience, supported by improvements in acoustic insulation. Audi has enhanced soundproofing by up to 30 per cent over the previous generation, achieved through better-sealed windows and doors, acoustic glazing on rear-side windows, and redesigned engine mounts. Tyres with foam inserts, fitted to 19-inch wheels and above, further reduce road noise.

Pricing in Germany begins at €65,800 (RM314,813) for the base A6 Sedan e-hybrid, while the Avant version starts at €68,300 (RM326,774). The higher-output variants are priced from €75,050 (RM359,069) and €77,550 (371,030) for the Sedan and Avant respectively. These top-spec models also come with more aggressive S Line styling, sport suspension, larger wheels, and red-painted brake callipers as standard.

Built on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), the new A6 plug-in hybrids share components with other models in Audi’s line-up and are expected to influence future vehicles, including potential Porsche offerings. The new models are available to order in Germany from 8 May 2025, with first deliveries scheduled for mid this year.

Despite a general slowdown in automotive sales in January 2025, following a record-breaking total industry volume (TIV) of 816,747 units in 2024, the Proton S70 maintained its strong momentum, surpassing the 1,000-unit sales mark each month. The sedan recorded 1,143 units in January and 1,197 units in February, continuing its steady performance. In 2024, Proton sold 18,880 units of the S70, outselling its closest competitor by 8,470 units. The model’s best monthly performance was in February 2024, when sales peaked at 2,290 units.

The S70’s success is largely attributed to its ability to offer a premium C-segment experience at a price point typically associated with B-segment models. Equipped with a 1.5L turbocharged engine delivering 150PS and 226Nm of torque, coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the S70 strikes a balance between power, efficiency, and driving excitement. Beyond performance, its spacious interior, advanced driver assistance features, and lower ownership costs compared to Japanese rivals have been key selling points. This combination of attributes also led to the S70 being selected as Proton’s official entry in the 2024 Sepang 1000 KM race.

A Sedan Under RM100k Offering Value and Exclusivity

A recent survey of nearly 200 Proton S70 owners revealed that many buyers saw the model as a unique offering within its class. While some considered Japanese competitors, the S70’s well-rounded package ultimately swayed their decision. In addition to its value-driven appeal, the S70 boasts advanced safety features, including autonomous emergency braking, forward and rear collision warning, lane departure warning, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

The survey also indicated a strong preference for the S70 among young families and second-car buyers. Proton’s internal data showed that 72% of S70 owners are between the ages of 20 and 40, with 51% of them married with children. Among respondents, 39% purchased the S70 as a second car, while 37% replaced an existing vehicle. First-time buyers accounted for 20% of owners, demonstrating the model’s broad appeal among experienced car buyers who prioritize value and performance.

Owners have also expressed their satisfaction with the S70’s balance of features and affordability. One S70 Executive owner described the vehicle as a “value buy” due to its well-equipped specifications. A Flagship X owner emphasized the appeal of the model’s premium touches, stating that features like the sunroof and body kit enhanced both the luxury and aesthetic appeal of the car.

Proton S70 Triumphs in the C-Segment with Competitive Pricing and Strong Features

Affordability remains a key factor for Proton S70 buyers, with 56% citing its competitive pricing against rival brands as a primary reason for their purchase. Additionally, 50% of respondents highlighted the model’s overall value for money. Further insights revealed that 46% of buyers were drawn to the car’s interior design, 41% appreciated its exterior styling, and 40% were impressed by its power delivery.

To build on this momentum, Proton has introduced the “Buka Lembaran Baharu” promotion in March, offering S70 buyers cash rebates of up to RM8,000. Purchasers of the Flagship X variant will also receive a complimentary Aerokit worth RM3,130, with an additional RM2,000 trade-in support available. In total, buyers can enjoy benefits worth up to RM13,000 under this promotional campaign.

Adding to the excitement, Proton is set to launch a video campaign titled “RAYA Stylo with S70” this week. The campaign invites participants to showcase their creativity by producing 60-second videos highlighting the S70’s unique features. Entries must be posted on TikTok with the hashtag #RAYASTYLOWITHS70. The top winners in two categories—S70 club members and the general public—stand a chance to win grand prizes of RM10,000 each.

Reflecting on the S70’s success, Proton Deputy Chief Executive Officer Roslan Abdullah emphasized the model’s impact on the Malaysian automotive market. “The Proton S70 doesn’t just compete; it is leading sales in the C-segment sedan category. It has challenged the status quo by offering a compelling alternative that resonates with a new generation of Malaysian car buyers, proving that value, performance, and style can coexist in one exceptional package,” he said.

With its strong market reception, aggressive promotional campaigns, and unwavering appeal to value-conscious buyers, the Proton S70 continues to solidify its position as the leader in Malaysia’s C-segment sedan market.

At first glance, the ES90 exudes familiar Volvo styling. The front is defined by signature “Thor’s Hammer” LED headlights, while vertical driving lamps and a minimalist grille complete the look. Around back, C-shaped taillights stretch into the sharply sloped rear glass of its hatchback design, which provides easy access to 733 litres of cargo space with the rear seats folded (or 495 liters with them upright), plus an additional 48-litre frunk.

Built on the same SPA2 platform as the EX90, the ES90 is slightly longer in wheelbase (310 cm) but shorter overall at 5 meters. With 20.3 cm of ground clearance and a total width of 212 cm, it strikes a balanced profile between sportiness and practicality. Inside, the focus is on spaciousness, offering 10.7 cm of knee clearance and 96 cm of rear headroom for passengers.

The ES90’s interior reflects Volvo’s commitment to minimalism and technology. The centerpiece is a 14.5-inch portrait touchscreen that controls nearly every function, from the four-zone climate system to the premium 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system. A slim 9.0-inch digital driver display is mounted ahead of the steering wheel, supported by a head-up display for vital driving information. Beyond a few physical controls on the steering wheel and doors, the cabin is fully digital, with seamless Google integration built-in.

While the ES90 impresses with performance, Volvo emphasizes its computing power just as much. Using dual Nvidia Drive AGX Orin processors, the ES90 can handle over 500 trillion operations per second, supporting advanced safety systems, AI features, and over-the-air updates.

“This allows us to further raise the bar on safety and overall performance through data, software, and AI,” explained Volvo Chief Engineer and Technology Officer Anders Bell.

With its 800-volt architecture, the ES90 is designed for fast charging, supporting rates up to 350 kW. This enables it to recover 300 km of range in just 10 minutes, with a 10-80% charge in as little as 20 minutes. Depending on the version, the ES90 can deliver up to 700 km of range (WLTP), aided by its sleek 0.25 drag coefficient, the best in Volvo’s history.

The ES90 will launch in three configurations: the Single Motor variant, featuring rear-wheel drive, a 329hp output, a 92.0 kWh battery, and up to 644km of range; the Twin Motor variant, offering all-wheel drive, 442hp, a 106.0 kWh battery, and a range of up to 700km; and the Twin Motor Performance variant, which boasts all-wheel drive, 670hp, a 106.0 kWh battery, a 0-97 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds, a top speed of 180 km/h, and a range of up to 700km.

The Volvo ES90 is currently available to order in select European markets. Availability in other markets is expected in the near future, though no official timeline or pricing has been announced.

BYD announced a surge in sales for 2024, reflecting its growing dominance in both domestic and international markets. The company reported a 41.3% year-on-year increase, selling 4,272,145 vehicles compared to 3,024,417 units in 2023.

Sedans are fast becoming the most common type of cars seen around and are experiencing a resurgence in the automotive market, driven by a blend of innovation and evolving consumer preferences. Automakers in return are introducing sleeker designs, enhanced fuel efficiency, and advanced technology to appeal to modern buyers. 

However, with the rise of electric and hybrid powertrains, sedans now offer eco-friendly options alongside traditional combustion engines. Their balanced performance, comfort, and affordability make them a practical choice for families and urban commuters alike. This renewed focus on sedans, coupled with competitive pricing, is contributing to steady growth in both established and emerging markets.

But what makes BYD so good? Are their offerings better than their competitor sedans out there? Well, we tested out the BYD Seal Performance variant and we can see why many are invested and interested in BYD’s offerings. 

Sleek and Menacing Looks

Designed by Wolfgang Egger (former Audi designer), there is no doubt that the Seal looks good in every angle. Every line and curve blends in together giving it a masculine and dominating look on the roads. The LED headlights, daytime running lights and LED tail lights enhance its appearance and are meticulously designed with intricate details that come alive at night. 

The BYD Seal Performance and the Tesla Model 3 share similar dimensions, but with some notable differences. Measuring 4,800mm in length with a 2,920mm wheelbase, the Seal Performance is 80mm longer and has a 45mm longer wheelbase than the Tesla Model 3, which measures 4,720mm in length with a 2,875mm wheelbase. 

This slightly larger footprint contributes to better rear legroom in the Seal. In terms of cargo capacity, the BYD Seal offers a 400-litre boot and a 50-litre frunk, while the Tesla Model 3 provides a slightly larger 425-litre boot and a more spacious 88-litre frunk. Although the Seal’s narrow boot opening might pose challenges for loading bulkier items, it still offers a practical amount of storage.

Interior: A Tech-Forward Sanctuary

Inside, the Seal Performance exudes luxury and innovation. The cabin is wrapped in premium leather, with ventilated and heated seats ensuring comfort in all conditions. The centrepiece is the 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, which adds a futuristic flair to the infotainment system. Whether in portrait or landscape mode, the display is crisp and responsive, offering seamless access to navigation, entertainment, and vehicle settings. A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster provides all essential driving information at a glance, while a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system delivers crystal-clear audio. 

Dual-zone climate control with a PM2.5 air filtration system ensures a fresh and comfortable environment. However, the climate controls are rather annoying as they can only be accessed through the touchscreen and this is an inconvenience. Simple things such as knobs and vent controls should just be left the traditional way.

On the plus side, there are physical buttons for your preferred drive mode and volume control and the crystal gear shifter adds a touch of finesse.

It also comes with wireless charging pads along with wired Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto connectivity which is easy to connect to so there are no complications for the less tech-savvy users. 

The panoramic roof has UV-resistant glass and does a commendable job of keeping the cabin cool. We were driving around Sepang under the noon sun and did not really feel the heat.

Performance: Unleashing Electrified Fury

At the core of the BYD Seal Performance lies its dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system, which generates an impressive 523hp and 670Nm of torque. This setup shoots the car from 0 to 100km/h in a mere 3.8 seconds, a figure that rivals some of the most iconic performance cars on the market. 

The instant torque delivery from the electric motors ensures that every press of the accelerator is met with a surge of adrenaline, making overtaking and highway merging an absolute breeze. Despite its substantial 2,185 kg weight, the Seal Performance feels remarkably agile. 

The suspension is finely tuned to balance comfort and dynamic handling, allowing the car to glide over imperfections while remaining composed during spirited driving. However, the regenerative braking system, while efficient, lacks the immediate feedback of traditional setups, requiring a slight adjustment in driving style.

However, there is an issue about the “Performance” variant that bugs me; a 180km/h electronic speed limiter. Yes, we know it is to preserve the battery life but shouldn’t a performance variant have a higher speed limit? This was a little frustrating as we were being overtaken by other cars which do not cost as much as the Seal Performace. 

Range and Charging: Power Without Compromise

Equipped with an 82.5 kWh BYD Blade battery, the Seal Performance offers a 520km WLTP-rated range, ensuring that it’s exhilarating performance doesn’t come at the cost of practicality. Charging is equally impressive. A 7kW AC charger fully replenishes the battery in 15.2 hours, while a 150 kW DC fast charger can take the battery from 10% to 80% in just 37 minutes, making long-distance travel a stress-free affair.

We travelled from Bamboo Hills KL to Putrajaya then to Sepang where we did at least eight rounds of a gymkhana challenge, then headed back to Bamboo Hills, all this with one charge! We still had 14% of battery remaining, which to me, is quite impressive.

Safety: Confidence on the Road

The Seal Performance is packed with advanced safety features, including nine airbags for comprehensive protection and a suite of driver-assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist. A 360-degree camera provides a bird’s-eye view for easier manoeuvring.

These features are not as sensitive as other EVs out there, so it does not “take over” your steering wheel but rather help you keep your car in the lane. If you feel like a certain feature is not what you need, you can simply turn it off through the touchscreen. 

Priced at RM203,300, the BYD Seal Performance AWD is a game-changer in the premium EV segment. It combines jaw-dropping acceleration, a luxurious interior, and a design that’s both striking and functional. While there are minor drawbacks this is an exceptional package. For those seeking an electric vehicle that delivers heart-pounding performance without sacrificing everyday usability, the BYD Seal Performance is a compelling choice. It’s not just a car—it’s a statement.

In case you didn’t know, cars are categorised into various segments based on their sizes. The list of segments begins with the A-segment which comprises the smallest cars in the market such as the Perodua Axia, Proton Saga, Perodua Bezza, and the Hyundai i10 just to name a few.

Moving up the ladder, we have the B-segment which comprises models like the Honda City, Toyota Vios, and the MG5, followed by the C-segment which the Proton S70 here is a part of, alongside models like the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla Altis, and the Mazda3. 

If we keep going, there’s the D-segment with mid-sized executive sedans like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, the E-segment with cars like the Mercedes-Benz E Class, limousines such as the BMW 7-Series, sports cars, MPVs, and SUVs.

While most of these models compete with each other in the same segment, there are a few special models such as the Proton S70 here which also compete with cars in other segments. 

If you’re wondering why, the government actually requires non-national car manufacturers to pay higher taxes than local brands, which requires them to sell their cars at a higher price to be profitable versus national cars that are priced much lower despite being in the same category. 

This explains why a car from a foreign brand is priced much higher than a local car in the same segment as Proton doesn’t have to pay excise duty or import duty like its foreign competitors.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why the Proton S70’s price is closer to a Honda City and a Toyota Vios which are a size smaller, instead of the Toyota Corolla and the Honda Civic which are its direct rivals.

Priced between RM73,800 and RM94,800, all four variants of the S70 share the same powertrain package as the X50 and the X70, comprising a three-cylinder 1.5-litre turbocharged engine and an improved 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission with Manual Mode which produce 150 PS at 5,500 rpm and 226 Nm from 1,750rpm to 4,000rpm.

Speaking of variants, the model that we were invited to spend a day with recently, was the range-topping Flagship X trim which comes with the complete list of bells and whistles including a powered sunroof and a body kit.

Measuring 4,602mm in length, 1,809mm in width, and 1,466mm in height, the S70 comes with a wheelbase length of 2,627mm which makes it significantly longer and wider than a Vios or a City.

In terms of its design, the S70 looks classy and sleek, fit enough for a government official to arrive at an official event in style. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that it is the most handsome sedan by Proton since the Perdana.

The strong character lines, the LED lights with daytime running lights, the aero kit, the sunroof and the sleek silhouette certainly give the S70 the “executive” look Proton models have been lacking in recent times.

Upon opening the doors of the S70, we were greeted by a cabin that comes with a generous dose of leather upholstery, soft-touch materials, contrasting white stitching, and brushed metal bits that run across the dashboard under the air-cond vent – all of which give the interior a rather “premium” look and feel just like the exterior.

After sitting in the S70 and fiddling with the switches, buttons, and levers, we realised that the S70, despite being priced similarly to the Vios and the City, is a far superior product.

At the same time, components like the steering wheel don’t feel as solid as what we get in the new Civic or the Altis, but it is almost there. No complaints here as the S70 asks for like RM30,000 less than the Japanese C-segment sedans.

The seats on the other hand offer a great level of comfort and support, making the S70 an ideal car for daily commuting and also Balik Kampung journeys with the family.

As for our stint with the S70, we drove it from the Proton Centre of Excellence in Shah Alam to Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan and back through a combination of congested B-roads, highways, as well as a fair share of twisty bits near Bukit Putus.

The first thing we noticed was that the throttle response was rather sensitive and aggressive, resulting in regular wheelspins when we were leaving toll plazas and exiting junctions. The brakes were also a bit too grippy for our liking. 

However, after driving it for awhile, we managed to adapt to it and things were fine and dandy ever since. Once we picked up speed, it was smooth sailing to speeds well over the limit. 

The level of noise, vibration, and harshness was impressively low as well, even when we were flooring it. As far as the ride and handling were concerned, bumps, lumps, and uneven surfaces were tolerated respectably with little to no drama.

The chassis of the S70 is also setup impressively as it handles the tightest of corners without breaking a sweat. 

As fun as it was to drive the S70, there is still room for improvement. For instance, there is still no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto as the car uses Proton’s infotainment system which takes some time to get used to. There are no paddle shifters as well.

Also, there is no dedicated button to switch between the various driving modes, which was a bummer. To change between Comfort, Eco, and Sport modes, you have to swipe the menu down on the central display and then pick the desired mode, which requires you to move your eyes to the screen during this process.

Other than that, the S70 was an enjoyable vehicle to be in. Keeping us safe and secure during the drive were all the safety and driver assistance features like Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Collision Prevention, a 360-view HD camera, as well as Lane Keep Assist.

Now, if we are to compare the Proton S70 with the Honda Civic or the Toyota Corolla Altis since they’re all C-segment models, the former is still inferior in terms of the overall build quality, performance, ride and handling, but all is forgiven since the S70 is priced like RM40,000 cheaper than the Japanese.

However, if we put it against similarly-priced models like the City and the Vios, the S70 is miles ahead in terms of the refinement, features, and the performance, which makes it an absolute bang for your buck.

Lebih 40 tahun dari tahun penubuhannya, Proton kekal sebagai jenama terlaris bagi sedan di Malaysia. Warisan  ini menyaksikan sebanyak 3.85 juta unit terjual hingga kini, dibina oleh ikon-ikon negara seperti Proton Saga,  Proton Wira dan Proton Waja, yang pernah digunakan sebagai kereta polis di Humberside County, United  Kingdom, dua generasi Proton Persona, Proton Prevé, dan kini tambahan terbaru dalam keluarga sedan iaitu Proton S70. 

Dilancarkan pada bulan November tahun lalu, Proton S70 menjadi pilihan utama dalam kategori sedan-C dalam  jangka masa yang cepat, dengan jumlah jualan tahun-ke-tahun mencecah 14,877 unit sehingga bulan September.  Jualan keseluruhan telah mengatasi pesaing lain dalam kategori yang sama, dengan purata 1,640 unit terjual  sebulan sejak bulan Januari tahun ini. Model ini mendahului jualan dalam segmennya, dengan tiga negeri teratas  iait Selangor, Johor, dan Pulau Pinang. Namun, penyumbang terbesar dalam kumpulan ini ialah Proton Saga  yang sentiasa relevan, dengan jualan melebihi 2 juta unit sejak pelancarannya pada 9 Julai 1985 hingga bulan  September tahun ini. Model ini telah melalui perubahan besar menerusi tiga generasi, dengan peningkatan dari  segi keselamatan, reka bentuk, prestasi, keselesaan dalaman dan ciri-ciri, pembangunan platform dan casis, serta  badan yang lebih kukuh. 

Kejayaan sentiasa datang daripada memenuhi kehendak pelanggan, dan bagi sedan Proton, pengalaman  pemanduan yang responsif, rekod keselamatan, serta keseronokan di belakang stereng memainkan peranan  besar dalam menarik minat pembeli kereta. Seiring dengan perubahan zaman, model-model ini turut  memperkenalkan peningkatan keselamatan yang relevan, seperti sistem brek anti-kunci (ABS), beg udara,  pretensioner tali pinggang keledar, struktur badan yang dibentuk dengan hot-press form, dan baru-baru ini dengan  Proton S70, ciri-ciri ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) tahap 2 seperti bantuan pertukaran lorong, brek  kecemasan automatik, kawalan pemanduan pintar, serta maklumat papan tanda trafik untuk memastikan sedan  Proton kekal di barisan hadapan teknologi keselamatan. 

Selain daripada menumpukan perhatian kepada ciri-ciri, pembeli kereta juga membuat keputusan berdasarkan  gaya dan praktikaliti, yang merupakan satu lagi tanda keistimewaan sedan Proton. Contohnya, Proton Saga  mempunyai ciri unik yang mengingatkan pemandu untuk memeriksa kenderaan mereka bagi memastikan tiada  barang atau kanak-kanak yang tertinggal sebelum keluar dari kereta, manakala Proton Persona menawarkan  ruang but sebanyak 500 liter, memudahkan perjalanan jauh dengan bagasi. Sementara itu, Proton S70  menetapkan piawaian lebih tinggi dengan menggabungkan ciri-ciri seperti lampu hadapan LED, kamera 360  darjah, evolusi terkini perisian dalam kereta Proton, skrin sentuh 12.3 inci, dan juga bumbung suria, yang terus meningkatkan lagi tahapnya dalam segmen ini. 

Proton S70 dilihat sebagai sedan keluarga yang maskulin tetapi elegan, menggabungkan ciri-ciri progresif dan  inovatif. Tinjauan terbaru oleh Insight Asia yang melibatkan 277 peserta berumur antara 22 hingga 59 tahun  mendedahkan bahawa pembeli mengutamakan kemampuan, keselesaan, dan keselamatan, bersama dengan  reka bentuk yang bergaya dan moden. Sebab-sebab utama untuk memilihnya termasuk estetika yang menarik,  kuasa yang baik, dan nilai keseluruhan yang berbaloi, bermula dari lebih RM70,000. Ramai pemilik telah naik taraf  dari segmen yang lebih kecil dan tidak mempertimbangkan model lain, melihat model ini sebagai unik dalam  kelasnya. 

Secara keseluruhan, pemilik Proton S70 menyatakan kepuasan tinggi terhadap keselesaan kabin, ruang  penyimpanan, dan ciri keselamatan. Walaupun kebanyakan mereka melaporkan tiada isu yang ketara, ada yang  mengalami masalah bunyi, getaran, dan kekerasan (NVH) yang kecil, yang tidak menjejaskan pengalaman  keseluruhan mereka. Cadangan untuk penambahbaikan termasuk pengenalan ciri seperti pengelap cermin automatik dan tempat duduk berventilasi, menurut Insight Asia.

The 2025 Bentley Flying Spur boasts an impressive new hybrid V8, surpassing the outgoing W-12 engine in power and performance. This hybrid setup, which first appeared in the 2025 Continental GT Speed, is now available in the Flying Spur, marking it as Bentley’s most powerful sedan to date.

Under the hood, the twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 hybrid produces 771hp and 1,000Nm of torque, reflecting a 19% horsepower increase and 11% torque improvement over the previous W-12 engine. With these enhancements, the Flying Spur can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.3 seconds, a half-second improvement over its predecessor.

The hybrid system also includes a 25.9-kilowatt-hour battery, providing an additional 187hp and 450Nm of torque. This setup offers 75km of electric driving range (based on the EU cycle), with speeds reaching up to 140km/h. Combined with the V8 engine, the total driving range extends to 828km.

Drivers can optimise performance with four battery-specific modes: Pure EV, Electric Boost, Regenerative Braking, and Charge. In Charge mode, the gas engine not only powers the wheels but also helps recharge the battery. Alternatively, using a Level 2 charger, the battery recharges in two hours and 45 minutes at an 11-kilowatt rate.

Bentley’s Active Chassis system comes standard, featuring an adaptive suspension, all-wheel steering, an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, and updated ESC software. The car’s balanced weight distribution—48.3% front and 51.7% rear—further enhances handling.

Visually, the 2025 Flying Spur retains Bentley’s signature style, with subtle updates like a Speed-specific grille and a redesigned front bumper. Buyers can opt for a Styling Specification aero package in carbon fibre or new body-coloured paint, with 101 exterior colours to choose from.

Inside, the Flying Spur sees significant tech upgrades, including a new digital instrument cluster and centre touchscreen supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Bentley also introduces the My Bentley App Studio, allowing for third-party app integration for entertainment, navigation, and more.

For audiophiles, the standard 10-speaker, 650-watt system can be upgraded to a 16-speaker, 1,500-watt Bang & Olufsen system or a 19-speaker, 2,200-watt system with Active Bass Transducers in the front seats. Additionally, laminated glass makes the Flying Spur nine decibels quieter than the previous model.

Rangkaian kuasa Hibrid Prestasi Ultra menandakan pencapaian penting dalam sejarah Bentley, menggabungkan teknologi pembakaran enjin yang maju dengan elektrifikasi. Ciri-ciri utama rangkaian kuasa ini adalah:

• Penjanaan Kuasa: Hampir 150PS lebih daripada enjin W12 dalam Flying Spur Speed ​​semasa.
• Tork Tambahan: 100Nm lebih daripada model sebelumnya.
• Penggunaan Elektrik: Membekalkan rangsangan kuasa yang penting untuk pecutan dan prestasi keseluruhan.

Melangkah ke Hadapan

Bentley merancang untuk mendedahkan lebih banyak butiran mengenai Flying Spur baharu dalam beberapa bulan akan datang. Pengenalan rangkaian kuasa Ultra Performance Hibrid ini menandakan langkah berani Bentley ke arah masa depan kemewahan dan prestasi dalam industri automotif, mengesahkan kedudukannya di barisan hadapan inovasi dan kecemerlangan.

Dengan Flying Spur baharu, Bentley terus mengukuhkan reputasinya dalam pengeluaran kenderaan mewah yang menawarkan prestasi dan kecekapan tanpa tandingan. Model ini menggabungkan prestasi supercar dengan kemewahan dan kehebatan elektrik, menetapkan standard baru dalam kategori Grand Tourer empat pintu.

Varian EQE Sedan menampilkan reka bentuk luaran dengan garisan yang menarik dan ciri-ciri EQ khas, sementara dalamannya menawarkan kemasan Electric Art Line dan AMG Line dengan trim lampu latar laser-cut dan pencahayaan ambien aktif. Dua varian EQE 350+ Electric Art Line dan AMG Line mempunyai output kuasa 292hp dan tork 565Nm, dengan julat sehingga 682km mengikut WLTP. Pengecasan AC dan DC yang pantas memberikan keselesaan tambahan dalam pengecasan.

Sementara itu, SUV EQE menampilkan reka bentuk yang anggun dengan roda aloi 20 inci dan pelbagai ciri keselesaan dalaman. Seperti varian sedan, varian SUV juga mempunyai dua varian, dengan output kuasa yang sama dan julat sehingga 596km. Harga bagi EQE 350+ SUV Electric Art Line dan AMG Line adalah RM398,888 dan RM448,888, masing-masing.

Varian teratas, EQE 500 4MATIC SUV AMG Line, menawarkan prestasi lebih tinggi dengan output kuasa 408hp dan tork 858Nm. Dengan pecutan 0 hingga 100km/j dalam 4.9 saat dan julat 465-550km mengikut WLTP, ia menawarkan pengalaman pemanduan yang mengagumkan. Harga untuk varian ini adalah RM485,888.

Pelancaran varian EQE baharu Mercedes-Benz Malaysia menunjukkan komitmen mereka untuk menyediakan kenderaan elektrik mewah dengan teknologi canggih dan keselesaan yang tinggi. Kemasukan pengecas onboard 22 kW dalam semua varian meningkatkan kemudahan pengecasan untuk pelanggan, sementara konsep runcit gaya hidup Star Elegance bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengalaman pelanggan secara keseluruhan. Penghantaran untuk EQE 350+ SUV Electric Art Line dan AMG Line dijangka akan bermula pada Jun 2024.

Sambil mengekalkan bahasa reka bentuk tandatangan Kodo, ia memperkenalkan elemen baharu seperti gril bercahaya dan pemegang pintu pop-out. Lampu belakang dan lampu depan membuat perbandingan dengan reka bentuk Jaguar, manakala spoiler aktif  menambah sentuhan sporty. Berukuran 4919mm panjang, 1889mm lebar dan 1483mm tinggi, EZ-6 lebih besar sedikit daripada pendahulunya.

Ia mempunyai roda aero 19-inci, mempunyai bumbung kaca panoramik yang besar dan pintu frameless yang meningkatkan daya tarikan premiumnya. Laporan mencadangkan ia berkongsi platformnya dengan Changan Shenlan SL03 tetapi menawarkan reka bentuk dalaman yang lebih mewah. Walaupun menyimpang daripada tawaran global Mazda, kabin ini mempunyai estetika yang menarik dan diserlahkan oleh konsol tengah “floating.”

Spesifikasi awal mendedahkan bahawa Mazda EZ-6 mempunyai persediaan pacuan roda belakang untuk model elektrik, mencapai pengagihan berat 50:50 yang sempurna dan menggunakan suspensi multi-link di belakang. Pek bateri, walaupun tidak dinyatakan, menawarkan jarak 600km yang mengagumkan (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle – CLTC). Sementara itu, varian hibrid plug-in boleh meliputi 1,000km dengan gabungan petrol dan rangkaian kuasa elektrik.

Dijadualkan untuk mula dijual di China berikutan penampilan sulungnya di Pameran Motor Beijing, sedan hibrid bersaiz sederhana elektrik/plug-masuk ini tidak dijangka dieksport ke pasaran lain.
