Amidst a slump in commercial truck sales in 2025, Isuzu Malaysia bucked the trend and saw sales grow to claim over half of the market share in its segment.

While the industry itself saw a 11.4% reduction in commercial truck sales, confidence in Isuzu due to its ability to reduce operating costs, deliver solid reliability and increase safety saw the brand achieve its highest-ever market share of a record 56.1% with sales of 6,880 units, a step up from its previous best market share of 47.1% in 2023.

The country’s appetite for diesel vehicles is dwindling due to the subsidies being retracted. This was reflected in a significant 7.3% drop in pick-up truck sales as well. Nonetheless, the Isuzu D-Max quietly commanded a healthy 15% of the pick-up truck segment, comfortably settling into the number two spot for the segment.

The backbone of the company’s commercial success is the Isuzu Elf, a light duty truck with impressive payload capabilities, and Malaysia’s most popular truck for an incredible 16 consecutive years. Last year, it accounted for 92.5% of all Isuzu trucks sold with 6,362 units registered.

Isuzu Sold Over Half Of All New Trucks In 2025

Moving forward, Isuzu Malaysia will be focussing on leveraging the strong reputation of its current line-up with the immediate focus centred firmly on enhancing the ownership experience, especially for aftersales.

“While we witnessed a 12 percent intake increase in our aftersales business last year, we believe that through improved services, quicker turn-around visits and greater parts availability, we will be able to provide our customers with even more seamless maintenance visits thereby providing them with less down time and more enriched drives,” added Yamaguchi.
