Time and again, the Proton Saga continues to prove beyond any reasonable doubt why it is the quintessential kereta rakyat, this time as it has amassed a staggering 70,000 bookings.
Surely you have seen some on the road by now but prepare to see more of it, a whole lot more, as Proton has also confirmed that over 10,000 units have been delivered.
In total, Proton has recorded 74,013 bookings. That is a phenomenal figure given that the new Saga MC3 was only launched in late November 2025 and we are not even out of January 2026 yet.

The figures came from Proton’s Chief Executive Officer, Li Chunrong, during briefing with the media. He went on to add that the bookings received are the highest ever achieved by the compact sedan in the last 14 years and could well see it reclaim the title of Malaysia’s best-selling car.
Part of the briefing also divulged that Proton are targeting to sell 200,000 units in 2026. While the Saga is expected to be one of the largest contributors to that goal, export sales will also be banked on to play a part.

The Saga will also be exported, beginning with the Philippines and Latin America. However, it will be rebadged as a Geely in those countries.
While the Philippines is a left-hand-drive market, this new Saga MC3 is right-hand drive. However, the AMA platform that underpins was designed from the beginning to accommodate left-hand drive conversions.
The previous Saga VVT was sold in Egypt as a left-hand drive model and was even locally- assembled (CKD), earning the title of Proton’s first-ever market to produce LHD vehicles overseas.
