The Kuala Lumpur-Frankfurt service will be operated using the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, currently the most modern aircraft type in Lufthansa’s fleet. The aircraft is configured with 287 seats across three classes and features the airline’s new Allegris cabin concept, which introduces redesigned seating and upgraded in-flight amenities.

Lufthansa Airlines CEO Jens Ritter said the new route reflects the airline’s focus on expanding its presence in Southeast Asia. “With the new nonstop connection to Kuala Lumpur and the deployment of our state-of-the-art Dreamliner, we are creating ideal conditions to participate in the growth in Southeast Asia,” he said.

The new service will make Kuala Lumpur Lufthansa Group’s fourth destination in Southeast Asia, joining Bangkok, Singapore and Phuket. Flights are now open for booking ahead of the route’s launch in October 2026.
