In its native Sweden, orders have exceeded 3,000 and this is only in the continent. The numbers should skyrocket again once order books open in the USA later this year.

To meet the extra demand, Volvo will be ramping up production at its Torslanda plant in Sweden. Furthermore, the brand has opened talks with labour unions regarding keeping the plant operational for an extra week during the summer, a first for them.

For a recap, the EX60 sits on Volvo’s new SPA3 platform and is available in three variants:

  • EX60 P6 RWD – 374 PS / 480 Nm, 83 kWh, up to 620 km
  • EX60 P10 AWD – 510 PS / 710 Nm, 95 kWh, up to 660 km
  • EX60 P12 AWD – 680 PS / 790 Nm, 117 kWh, up to 810 km

The SUV is Volvo’s fastest charging EV yet with 800-volt architecture and support DC fast charging of up to 400 kW, allowing for rapid top-ups on compatible chargers.

Positioned as the fully electric alternative to the best-selling Volvo XC60, the EX60 is priced in line with the XC60 plug-in hybrid in Europe, making it a key model in Volvo’s shift towards full electrification.

Closer to home, the EX60 has also been confirmed for the Malaysian market, although local specifications and launch timing have yet to be detailed. As more markets welcome the EX60, the factory might have to further increase production as the model is shaping up to be one of Volvo’s most important BEVs yet.
