Grab Malaysia has introduced a Women-Only Rides (Beta) service that matches female passengers exclusively with women driver-partners, announced in conjunction with International Women’s Day 2026.

The feature is currently available through Advance Booking (AB) in the Klang Valley, and is designed to provide women passengers with an additional travel option focused on comfort and safety when travelling alone.

The ride option will only be visible to women passengers on the Grab app and will match them solely with verified women driver-partners. To access the service, users must complete a one-time verification process using their MyKad or passport together with a selfie, which is cross-checked against official records.

According to Grab Malaysia Managing Director Adelene Foo, the initiative builds on the company’s existing safety infrastructure and its #SisBoleh women empowerment programme introduced in 2023. “It’s not just a new feature, it’s about ensuring every woman has a safe space to move and earn,” she said, adding that the initiative also creates more earning opportunities for women driver-partners.

Alongside the new ride option, Grab has also launched a Women Driver Acquisition campaign running from 8 March to 30 September 2026, aimed at expanding the number of women driver-partners nationwide.

New women driver-partners joining the platform will be eligible for rewards worth up to RM 100,000, including fuel vouchers and a Proton Saga grand prize.

Grab says the initiatives are supported by its existing platform safety features, including AI facial verification, number masking, trip monitoring, ride-sharing with trusted contacts, and an in-app SOS emergency button.

The announcement was made during Grab Malaysia’s International Women’s Day event attended by Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Lim Hui Ying, highlighting efforts to improve safety and expand economic opportunities for women in the mobility sector.
