Best recognised for his time as everyone’s favourite super-spy, Jamees Bond, Daniel Craig’s latest endeavour might be just as challenging as saving the world as Denza has tapped the actor as the face for its European campaign for the new Denza Z9 GT.
Denza is BYD’s luxury sub-brand, with the latter growing rapidly in terms of sales globally. BYD sold over 4.6 million electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles in 2025, edging out Ford to rank sixth in global sales.
While its native China remains the largest EV market, sales are slowing due to a surge in low-cost domestic rivals, leaving the big players to expand overseas.

BYD is pushing aggressively in Europe and is making good ground as it outsold Tesla for the second straight month in the continent with 17,954 units against Tesla’s 17,664.
Now, the carmaker aims to take things to the next level with the new Z9 GT, dubbed the “world’s longest-range pure EV” and is capable of supporting ultra-fast Flash Charging in just 5 minutes courtesy of its Blade Battery 2.0.

The Z9 GT is a high-performance luxury shooting brake with three electric motors making 960 PS combined, good for a 0-100 kph time of under three seconds. With a 122 kWh Blade Battery, the range goes up to 800 km for the RWD variant under the WLTP cycle.
It should be noted that BYD’s claims of it being ‘the world’s longest pure electric driving range vehicle’ is based on the lenient CLTC range in China, where it registered up to 1,036 km of range.

“The introduction of the Z9 GT in Europe marks a very important milestone for our brand, where advanced technology, beautiful design and emotional driving come together,” said Stella Li, BYD’s executive vice president.
“It is the perfect choice to introduce the principle of ‘Ready in 5, Full in 9, Cold Add 3’ to the world, as we start our global rollout of Flash Charging in Europe,” added Li.
BYD’s Flash Charging stations offer up to 1,500 kW of power juicing up the battery 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes. Getting it all the way up to 97% takes just 9 minutes. However, in cold temperatures as low as -30 degrees Celsius, it takes an additional 3 minutes longer to recharge from 20% to 97%.
