Hyundai has officially unveiled the Hyundai Ioniq 3, a compact electric hatchback positioned as the latest entry point into the Ioniq EV lineup.

On the design front, the Ioniq 3 introduces what Hyundai calls an “Aero Hatch” concept, combining a low-slung front end with a long roofline that extends over the cabin before tapering into the rear. The result is a shape optimised for both aerodynamics and interior space, with a claimed drag coefficient of 0.263.

In terms of size, the Ioniq 3 measures 4,155 mm in length (4,170 mm for N Line), 1,800 mm in width and 1,505 mm in height, with a 2,680 mm wheelbase.

Under the skin, the model is built on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, although using a 400V electrical architecture rather than the 800V setup seen in larger Ioniq models.

Two battery options are offered. The standard range variant uses a 42.2 kWh battery, delivering a WLTP range of 344 km, while the long range version gets a 61 kWh battery with up to 496 km of range.

Power comes from a front-mounted electric motor, producing up to 107.8 kW (147 PS) and 250 Nm. Performance figures include a 0 to 100 km/h time of 9.0 seconds (standard) and 9.6 seconds (long range), with a top speed of 170 km/h.

Charging supports DC fast charging from 10 to 80% in around 29 to 30 minutes, along with AC charging of up to 22 kW. Vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality is also included.

Inside, the Ioniq 3 focuses on practicality and space, with a flat floor layout and a “furnished space” interior concept. The cabin is designed to comfortably accommodate five occupants, including three adults in the rear. Boot space stands at 441 litres, including a 119-litre underfloor Megabox storage compartment.

The model also debuts Hyundai’s new Pleos Connect infotainment system, based on Android Automotive OS, with display sizes of up to 14.6 inches. Features such as digital key, integrated EV route planning, and plug-and-charge are included.

On the safety front, the Ioniq 3 is equipped with Hyundai SmartSense systems, including Highway Driving Assist 2, Remote Smart Parking Assist, surround view monitor, and blind-spot view monitor.
