BMW Malaysia has just introduced the BMW X3 30 xDrive M Sport here, positioned above the existing X3 20 xDrive M Sport launched in June last year. As the larger numeric suggests, this variant has a higher-tuned version of the mild-hybrid powertrain.
The numbers are 258 PS and 400 Nm of torque from the familiar 2.0-litre inline-four turbocharged mill. It is sent to all four wheels via the also familiar eight-speed automatic transmission. That is a century sprint time of 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 240 kph.
It also rides on larger 20-inch Style 1036 M bicolour alloy wheels with a staggered tyre setup. However, there is no M Sport suspension here, though the brakes are M Sport calipers in the signature shade of dark blue.

The cabin gets the M Anthracite headliner, a flat-bottom, tri-spoke M Sport steering wheel and front ventilated sports seats. BMW labels the upholstery Veganza perforated synthetic leather and is a classy black colour.
There are two screens as part of the BMW Curved Display that combines a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment central piece with the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. With a bigger price tag comes more speakers, comprising a 15-speaker, 765 W surround sound system by Harman Kardon over the lower variants six-speaker setup.
Safety comprises the Driving Assistant Plus package that consists of lane change warning with active steering intervention, front collision warning with brake intervention and the evasion assistant for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.
Also included rear cross traffic alert with brake intervention, rear collision prevention, active cruise control with stop-go and attentiveness assistant.
The X3 30 xDrive M Sport is priced at RM 358,800 or RM 386,800 if you add on the BMW Service & Repair Inclusive that includes a five-year servicing and warranty package. Colour options include Black Sapphire, Dune Grey, Alpine White and Tanzanite Blue.
