Following the overwhelming success of the Jetour T2, Jetour Auto Malaysia will be counting on the Jetour T1 to mirror similar success and is almost certainly previewing the boxy SUV at the upcoming Penang Autoshow 2026 this weekend.

Some teasing on their social media channels with a countdown indicates the T1 will make Malaysian debut at the northern show.

Depending on the market, the T1 can be had with either a 1.5-litre or 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that is mated to an 8-speed automatic. All-wheel drive is available as an option.

However, according to the Asean NCAP report, the T1 that underwent testing at the facility here in Malaysia was powered by the 2.0-litre mill that makes 251 PS and 390 Nm of torque. This would mean the T1 will share the same powertrain as its larger T2 cousin.

The T1 measures in at 4,706 mm in length, 1,967 mm in width and 1,845 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,810 mm. For comparisons sake, the T2 is a pinch larger at 4,785 mm long, 2,006 mm wide and about 1,880 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm.

Jetour’s line-up in Malaysia currently comprises the aforementioned T2 at RM 156,800, with the three-row Jetour VT9 below it at RM 118,800 and the smaller Jetour Dashing at RM109,800.

While the Dashing and VT9 occupy more conventional urban crossover spaces, this could see the T1 slot in comfortably into the RM120k-140k space between the VT9 and T2.

The T2 has been immensely successful in Malaysia, with around 4,000 bookings within the first month alone. Undoubtedly, its rugged, boxy design has stirred emotions within the hearts of buyers, that coupled with its mild off-road capabilities, makes for an enticing lifestyle statement.
