UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has announced that the Toyota Yaris Cross has recorded 2,298 bookings in less than one month since order books were opened.
The B-segment SUV was launched locally with two variants, starting with the Toyota Yaris Cross 1.5S priced at RM 99,900, while the Toyota Yaris Cross 1.5S Hybrid is priced at RM 109,900.
As a recap, the Yaris Cross is assembled at Toyota’s Bukit Raja plant and is built on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform. It measures 4,310 mm in length, 1,770 mm in width and 1,615 mm in height, with a 2,620 mm wheelbase, which is identical to the Perodua Traz.
The petrol variant is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine producing 106 PS and 138 Nm, paired with a CVT driving the front wheels.
The Hybrid variant uses a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle engine paired with an electric motor. The engine produces 91 PS and 121 Nm, while the electric motor produces 80 PS and 141 Nm. Combined output stands at 111 PS, sent to the front wheels via an e-CVT.

Inside, both variants come with a seven-inch TFT LCD instrument display, a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, adaptive cruise control, adaptive high beam and ambient interior lighting. The Hybrid variant additionally gets a wireless phone charger as standard.
On the safety front, the Yaris Cross comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Pre-Collision System (PCS), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) and Automatic High Beam (AHB).
The Toyota Yaris Cross is sold with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty. Hybrid variants also receive an eight-year warranty for the battery, inverter and power management ECU, extendable by another two years for RM 2,500.
