In Malaysia, the Dongfeng brand is represented by Volt Auto in partnership with Pekema subsidiary Central Auto Distributors Berhad (CADB). The company has indicated it is exploring options for local assembly.
Back to the car, the Dongfeng Vigo EV measures 4,306 mm long, 1,868 mm wide and 1,654 mm tall, riding on a 2,715 mm wheelbase. This places it in the same size segment as the BYD Atto 2. Chassis hardware consists of MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam rear suspension, paired with disc brakes on both axles. The Vigo rides on 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 215/55 R18 tyres.
Exterior highlights include inverted L-shaped LED projector headlights, flush electronic door handles and a split tailgate design similar to those found on larger premium SUVs.
Only one variant is offered at launch, featuring a front-mounted permanent synchronous motor producing 161 hp and 230 Nm of torque, enabling a 0 to 100 km/h time of 9.5 seconds.
Power is supplied by a 51.87 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which delivers a claimed range of 471 km on China’s CLTC cycle. On the WLTP standard, real-world range is expected to fall between 330 km and 380 km.
Charging support includes DC fast charging at up to 167 kW via a CCS2 connector, while AC charging via a Type 2 connection is rated at 6.6 kW, requiring approximately nine hours for a full charge. The Vigo EV also supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality at up to 3.3 kW.
Inside, the Vigo EV comes with six-way power-adjustable front seats, with memory and ventilation for the driver. Upholstery is finished in vegan leather in a light grey and black colour scheme. Other features include wireless phone charging, configurable ambient lighting synced to music playback, and automatic air conditioning with PM2.5 filtration.
Instrumentation consists of an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, paired with a 12.8-inch central touchscreen supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto. Boot capacity stands at 500 litres.
Safety equipment includes Level 2 ADAS features such as autonomous emergency braking, front collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist and traffic sign recognition, along with ABS, EBD, stability control and hill start assist.
The Dongfeng Vigo EV is backed by a six-year, unlimited-mileage vehicle warranty and an eight-year, unlimited-mileage battery warranty. Six exterior colours are available.
