Since its principal took over the reins, Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMM) is making strides towards establishing the marque as stable and solid among Malaysian buyers. Key among those initiatives is the introduction of the Hyundai Protection Plan as well as lowering the ownership costs of its models.
The plan is meant to safeguard the value of Hyundai vehicles and to deliver the best value for customers, the brand has partnered with five of the top insurers in Malaysia:
- Allianz
- Berjaya Sompo
- Etiqa General Takaful
- Takaful Ikhlas
- Tokio Marine
Among the benefits of the plan include up to 15 years of agreed value coverage in the event of an accident or theft and up to RM30,000 desktop claims approval within 24 hours. In addition to that, it also includes unlimited towing, 24/7 roadside assistance and zero-gap coverage based on the invoice price.

Of course, customers are free to select any insurer of their choice but there will always be benefits of using one recommended by the carmaker themselves for added benefits and quicker service.
In the case of zero-gap coverage, what it entails is that in the case of said vehicle being written off, the payout will cover the difference between the insurance settlement and the original invoice price, essentially the owner’s initial payments.

During a recent media event, HMM announced that this will reduce ownership cost as follows:
Additionally, HMM will also look into reducing hybrid battery costs and simplify battery repairing by replacing affected modules.
Lastly, all these initiatives will be brought closer to customers as the marque expands its Malaysian network that currently stands at 12 outlets. The target is to hit 25 outlets by the end of 2026, including more in East Malaysia. With the announcement of the Stargazer and N models, it looks to be an exciting year for the Korean brand.
