Mercedes-Benz has revealed the interior of its upcoming 2026 Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV ahead of its global debut on April 20. This appears to be Mercedes’ answer to the BMW Neue Klasse i3.
At first glance, the layout closely mirrors the electric GLC, with a full-width glass panel housing the display system. Buyers will get either the MBUX Superscreen setup or the full-width MBUX Hyperscreen, which spans pillar-to-pillar and uses matrix backlighting for improved contrast and clarity.
Mercedes says the new platform allows for more interior space than before, with a focus on creating what it describes as a “cocooning” environment using light, sound and materials.
Material quality also takes a step up. Even base models get new “Softtorino” upholstery, while higher trims offer Nappa leather with “Twisted Diamond” perforation, along with trim options such as open-pore wood, natural fibre, or carbon fibre.
Like the GLC EV, the electric C-Class will also be offered with a fully vegan interior option, covering seats, headliner, door panels and carpeting, certified by The Vegan Society.
The new seats come with memory, lumbar adjustment, ventilation, massage and even a “4D” audio-linked vibration function. Ambient lighting is also more advanced, extending across the cabin and into the panoramic roof, which can display a star-like pattern using 162 illuminated elements.
Mercedes has also improved refinement, with additional sound insulation, laminated glass, revised motor acoustics and a new heat pump system designed to improve cabin heating efficiency while reducing energy consumption.
While full powertrain details have yet to be officially confirmed, the electric C-Class is expected to adopt an 800V architecture with fast charging capabilities, along with outputs and range figures that will place it directly against the upcoming BMW i3.
