In its native China, this model goes by the much more intimidating Big Dog Plus and is essentially an updated variant of the standard H7.

It is powered by a 1.5-litre, inline-four turbocharged petrol engine paired with dual electric motors, one on each axle. The motors allow for GWM’s Hi4 (Hybrid Intelligent 4-wheel drive) system. Total power output for the powertrain is 449 PS and 660 Nm of torque, good for a century sprint of 5.8 seconds.
There are three battery options, with the largest being a 44.7 kWh pack that allows for an electric-only range of up to 255 km (CLTC). Collectively, the powertrain is capable of over 1,000 km with a single charge and full tank.

There is no ladder frame here though as the rock crawling and proper off-roading is reserved for its Tank sub-brand. The H7 Plus rides on GWM’s monocoque L.E.M.O.N. platform, the very same architecture on the Haval H6 and Jolion.
The front uses a MacPherson strut front and the rear a multi-link independent setup. Nonetheless, the H7 Plus does feature a rear differential lock and terrain-specific driving modes that should lend it some decent off-road prowess.
It measures in at 4,912 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width and 1,905 mm tall with a 2,850 mm wheelbase, giving it roughly the same footprint as the Ford Everest and Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. Its ground clearance is 221 mm and is capable of a respectable 580 mm of water wading depth.
