The Omoda C7 has been teased in a reel for the upcoming Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2026, suggesting that the SUV will be making its next public appearance in Malaysia. The latest teaser comes after the C7 was previously previewed at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025.
While Omoda & Jaecoo Malaysia has yet to officially confirm launch details, the KL Fashion Week appearance could signal that the C7 is finally moving closer to its launch here.
Positioned between the Omoda 5 and Omoda C9, the C7 is a C-segment SUV with a more premium and lifestyle-focused positioning. It is also expected to be one of the first models to carry the standalone Omoda identity locally, following the brand’s separation from Jaecoo in Malaysia.
The unit previewed in Malaysia previously was shown with a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which is also used in the Jaecoo J7. In that model, the engine produces 197 PS and 290 Nm, paired with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.
The show car was also seen with AWD badging, suggesting that an all-wheel drive version could be offered locally. A front-wheel drive variant may also be possible, depending on the final Malaysian line-up.
A plug-in hybrid version of the C7 also exists. Known as the C7 PHEV, it made its ASEAN debut at the 2025 Bangkok International Motor Show. The setup combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged hybrid engine producing 156 PS and 220 Nm with a 204 PS and 310 Nm electric motor.
Total system output for the PHEV is rated at 360 PS and 530 Nm, paired with a single-speed dedicated hybrid transmission.
In terms of design, the C7 adopts a more mature and premium look compared to the Omoda 5, with a sharp front end, slim lighting elements, flush door handles and a full-width rear light signature.
Inside, the C7 features a minimalist dashboard layout with a pair of freestanding displays, including a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen that can slide from the centre towards the passenger side.
Other interior highlights include front seats with integrated headrests, an oblong steering wheel and a Sony sound system with a “12+2” speaker layout.
