Chery Malaysia has confirmed that the Chery Tiggo 9 will be launched in Malaysia tomorrow, following an earlier preview of the brand’s upcoming flagship SUV. At its earlier preview, Chery Malaysia revealed an estimated price of below RM 189,000 for the Tiggo 9. The standard package includes a seven-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, along with a seven-year or 150,000 km engine warranty. Chery has also teased an early bird launch package, although full details have yet to be announced.
For Malaysia, the Chery Tiggo 9 is powered by a 2.0-litre TGDi turbocharged petrol engine producing 256 PS and 390 Nm. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and an all-wheel drive system. The SUV also gets seven drive modes, namely Eco, Normal, Sport, Sand, Mud, Snow and Off-Road.
In terms of size, the Tiggo 9 measures 4,810 mm long, 1,925 mm wide and 1,741 mm tall, with a 2,800 mm wheelbase. Boot space is listed at 448 litres, expandable to 2,065 litres with the rear seats folded.
Suspension consists of MacPherson struts at the front and multi-link independent suspension at the rear. Braking is handled by ventilated discs in front and discs at the rear, while the Tiggo 9 rides on 20-inch wheels wrapped in 245/50 R20 tyres.
On the outside, the Tiggo 9 gets LED headlights, automatic headlights, LED daytime running lights, sequential turn signals, roof rails, a rear spoiler, LED taillights and a hands-free powered tailgate.
Inside, the flagship SUV comes with a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, 15.6-inch infotainment display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, HD head-up display, 50W wireless charger with cooling function, and a 14-speaker Sony premium audio system.
Comfort features include a 10-way powered driver’s seat with memory, six-way powered front passenger seat, powered steering adjustment, front seat massage, ventilated and heated front seats, front passenger boss switch, cooled front centre armrest storage, dual-zone automatic air-conditioning, rear air-conditioning control panel, rear individual air vents, second-row sunshades and second-row ventilated and heated seats.
Other cabin features include faux leather upholstery, double-glazed acoustic glass, dynamic 64-colour ambient lighting, illuminated door sills, walk-away auto lock and an N95 cabin filter.
The Tiggo 9 also gets 60:40 split-folding second-row seats and 50:50 split-folding third-row seats, confirming a three-row layout for the Malaysian model.
On the safety front, the Tiggo 9 comes with 10 airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a 540-degree HD panoramic camera, ISOFIX, tyre pressure monitoring, hill start assist, hill descent control, electronic stability control and traction control.
ADAS features include autonomous emergency braking, front collision warning, adaptive cruise control, integrated cruise assist, traffic jam assist, lane change assist, lane keeping assist, emergency lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, lane departure prevention, blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alert.
