BYD is preparing a more potent version of its Sealion 06 EV, with new details revealing larger battery options, a significant jump in power, and performance figures that move the electric SUV firmly upmarket. While the exterior design stays familiar, the upgrades under the skin suggest the Sealion 06 EV is taking a more performance-focused
The updated model will be offered with two Blade battery options based on lithium iron phosphate chemistry. The smaller pack measures 75.616 kWh and delivers a CLTC-rated driving range of 620 km, while the larger 82.732 kWh battery stretches that figure to an impressive 710 km. The increase in capacity brings a slight weight penalty, with kerb weights listed at 2,040 kg for the smaller battery version and 2,080 kg for the larger one. The batteries themselves weigh 538.6 kg and 571.3 kg respectively.
The most notable change comes from the electric motor. Data previously filed with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology shows that the Sealion 06 EV now produces up to 362hp. This represents a substantial increase over the current outputs of 170 kW and 180 kW, translating to a gain of as much as 121hp. With the extra power, the SUV is capable of reaching a top speed of 210km/h.
Despite the mechanical upgrades, the Sealion 06 EV’s dimensions remain exactly the same as before. It measures 4,810 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width and 1,675 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. This means buyers still get the same spacious footprint and familiar proportions.
Styling continues to follow BYD’s “Ocean aesthetics” design theme. Up front, the closed-off grille is paired with split headlights and flanked by two trapezoidal air intakes, giving the car a clean yet distinctive look. At the rear, the full-width “interstellar loop” taillight remains a standout feature, instantly identifying the Sealion 06 EV even from a distance.
With longer range, much stronger performance and no compromise on space or design, the latest evolution of the BYD Sealion 06 EV appears set to raise the bar within the brand’s electric SUV line-up.
