The Kia nameplate has been in Malaysia for almost three decades but it has not necessarily been a smooth ride for the Korean marque with numerous franchise holder changes plaguing it with rocky stewardship. All that is set to change with a major overhaul of the brand by Kia itself under the Kia Sales Malaysia
Right atop the priority list would be rebuilding trust and instilling market confidence among Malaysia motorists. Spearheading the initial initiatives to achieve this are a new pricing strategy for its existing product portfolio, a loyalty programme to foster long-term ownership, Kia-branded insurance and corporate incentives.
“The new year marks a new beginning for Kia. We are proud to officially begin our journey of rebuilding the Kia brand through a standalone National Sales Company in Malaysia. We wish to assure fans that Kia is here to stay, and our priority is taking care of customers and inspiring progress through our innovative mobility solutions,” assured Kia Sales Malaysia Sdn Bhd President and CEO, Hyung Ho Kim.
Further bolstering the efforts was a re-evaluation of their pricing strategy. Effective 1 January 2026, the Kia Sportage and Carnival range saw prices reduced to increase competitiveness within the tightly contested SUV and MPV segment in Malaysia while the EV9 retains its pricing. The move sees the Kia Sportage range starting from just RM129,639.10 (OTR) with the rest as follows:
- Kia Sportage 2.0G 2WD – RM129,639.10 (RM17,579.50 reduction)
- Kia Sportage 2.0G 2WD HI – RM139,639.10 (RM15,579.50 reduction)
- Kia Sportage 1.6T 2WD HI – RM159,320 (RM17,579 reduction)
- Kia Sportage 1.6T 4WD HI – RM179,320 (RM7,579 reduction)
- Kia Carnival 8-seater – RM193,860.80 (RM52,027 reduction)
- Kia Carnival 7-seater – RM218,960.80 (RM40,927 reduction)
- Kia EV9 7-seater AWD – RM370,183 (unchanged)
- Kia EV9 6-seater AWD – RM375,183 (unchanged)
Further lending customers peace of mind is the warranty coverage and parts replacement policy for new Kia vehicles sold in Malaysia with a validity of five years or 150,000KM, whichever comes first.
To keep your Kia running flawlessly, KSM has also introduced a price reduction for Kia genuine spare parts with an average discount of 15%. Availability will be addressed with a dedicated parts warehouse located in Shah Alam, Selangor, that will keep the aftersales end promptly supplied.
Building loyalty is one of the foundations for long-term success and with that in mind, KSM has established the Kia Circle loyalty programme. Here, it offers cash rebates of up to RM6,000 when existing Kia owners upgrade to a new Kia and is applicable for family members as well (parents, children and spouse).
Keeping your new Kia insured is another initiative under the Kia Cares insurance programme, underwritten by Berjaya Sompo, Zurich and Zurich Takaful. Owners have an option of customising their coverage to add on benefits to suit individual preferences.
Lastly, KSM has also launched the Kia Professional programme that offers exclusive concessions of up to 3% for members of professional bodies and major corporations for individual vehicle purchases.
