The next step in the government’s shift towards the digitalisation of services in the transport sector will see the Road Transport Department (JPJ) cease issuing the physical road tax sticker for Malaysian-private owned vehicles beginning 1 February 2026.
Phase one towards this paperless future saw the transport ministry introduce the digital road tax and driving licence in February 2023. The digital copies of those could be stored and viewed via the MyJPJ app. The announcement that the physical road tax sticker will be stopped came via Pos Malaysia on their official Facebook page.
If you still require a physical road tax sticker, you can try your luck when you make a renewal at any post office or Pos Malaysia kiosks before the deadline and subject to availability of stock.
It is important to note that this is for the road tax sticker and not the newer paper document which is still available but only from JPJ branches. At least we won’t have to bother with removing the pesky sticker residue from the windshield anymore.
