Granting discounted toll rates in conjunction with religious celebrations has almost become a national tradition and this year is no different as the Malaysian government has announced a nationwide 50% discount on tolls with the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities.
The discount will begin effective 12:01am on 18th March 2026 (Wednesday) and be active until 11:59pm on 19th March 2026 (Thursday). It is applicable for all Class 1 vehicles, meaning cars, SUVs and light vehicles with two axles and 3-4 wheels.
However, there are two exceptions to the discounted toll rates as they are located at the country’s borders, and they are:
- Plaza Tol Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI)
- Plaza Tol Tanjung Kupang
The Malaysian Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, explained that the discounts were meant to ease travelling costs for those returning to their hometowns to celebrate, adding that the initiative involved a cost of RM 21.03 million as compensation to toll concession companies.
