GWM Malaysia continues to build on its 2025 momentum with a total of 1,294 units delivered in Q1 2026, capitalising on the growing demand for hybrids and EVs to reflect the current automotive market’s landscape.

Sales performance grew progressively through the quarter, with a stronger March reflecting stabilising consumer sentiment, ensuresing the brand maintains its position among Malaysia’s top 15 automotive brands. In 2025, the brand recorded just short of 5,900 units sold, a 177% year-on-year growth.

Its best-seller was the Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV that also emerged as the leading Chinese luxury MPV in Malaysia for the quarter.

In the SUV arena, the Haval H6 HEV continues to be a key contributor, strengthening its hold on the second spot in its segment with a 14.9% market share after emerging as one of Malaysia’s best-selling hybrid models in 2025.

The Tank 300 further strengthened its positioning as a lifestyle and off-road-focused SUV, a position it should solidify even further with the upcoming launch of the Tank 300 HEV in the coming months.

Moving forward, the brand will continue to prioritise dealer network expansion, aftersales enhancement and customer engagement initiatives, complemented by targeted sales programmes.

As of now, its network comprises 39 showrooms nationwide as of April 2026, with a growth target of 60 outlets by the end of 2026.

Beyond Q2, the focus remains on advancing its multi-powertrain strategy across ICE, HEV, PHEV and BEV offerings across its range of brands made up of Haval, Tank, Ora and Wey.

Looking ahead, GWM Malaysia remains cautiously optimistic. Plans revealed earlier in the year laid out a roadmap till 2028 that includes four new models, a 6% market share and 60,000 annual sales, elevating it into the top 10 carmakers in Malaysia and the top 3 Chinese carmakers locally.

Apart from the Tank 300 HEV, the other three models have been confirmed to be a B-segment SUV and a C-segment SUV for 2026–2027, including a future luxury C-SUV.

The models are likely to be the following:

  • B-segment SUV – Ora 05 (EV/HEV)
  • C-segment SUV – Haval Raptor (PHEV/ICE)
  • Premium C-segment SUV – Wey Mocha/03
