This success is happening even though Malaysia’s overall car market is slightly down by 0.9%. For November, Proton is expected to hold an 18.4% market share, and 19.7% for the whole year so far. This keeps Proton as the second best-selling car brand in the country.

Saga, X50 and S70 Continue to Lead

The Proton Saga was the best-selling model again in November with 6,931 units. Its total for the year is now 66,038 units. Despite Proton switching to the new Saga, sales stayed strong because the factory is speeding up production. More than 30,000 bookings have already been made for the new model.

The Proton X50 also performed well, selling 2,127 units in November. Its year-to-date number is 25,974 units, which is 23.5% more than last year. It remains the best-selling SUV in the B-segment.

The Proton S70 continued as the top C-segment sedan, selling 1,487 units in November and reaching 15,828 units this year.

Other Proton models also helped in November:

  • Persona: 1,050 units (YTD: 14,214)

  • X70: 471 units (YTD: 7,184)

  • X90: 234 units (YTD: 2,357)

  • Iriz: 241 units (YTD: 3,208)

EV Models Also Growing

Proton’s electric cars also had a good month. The launch of the e.MAS 5, Malaysia’s first affordable EV, helped attract more buyers. EV sales in the e.MAS range increased by 14.8% compared to the previous month.

The e.MAS 7 remained Malaysia’s best-selling EV, with 830 units sold in November. Its total for the year is now 7,784 units.

Proton said it plans to keep this momentum going into next year and has even teased a new plug-in hybrid during its Tech Showcase.

Export Sales Stronger Than Last Year

Proton is also working hard to grow its export business. In November, it exported 460 cars, bringing the total exports for the year to 5,014 units. This is 37.3% more than last year and the highest since 2022.

Proton aims to hit 6,000 export units in 2025, and it is close to achieving that. The company has returned to markets like Singapore and formed Proton International Corporation to handle global expansion.
