Toyoda appears as his “Morizo” character in Toyota’s GRIP anime series. During a short conversation, he suggests that something new could be shown very soon, possibly at the Tokyo Auto Salon. He does not name the car, but many fans believe he is talking about the MR2.
Rumours about a new MR2 have been around for many years. Interest grew stronger when Toyota showed a mid-engine concept based on the GR Yaris M, which looked like a modern take on the MR2.
