The Nissan Serena has long been a familiar name on Malaysian roads, earning its reputation over decades as a practical, efficient and family-friendly MPV trusted by generations. Now in its sixth generation, the All-New Nissan Serena e-POWER is poised to shake up the segment once again, pairing advanced electrified technology with improved refinement, sharper driving

Visually, the new Serena e-POWER makes a confident statement. Its design leans into a modern, high-tech look led by the latest evolution of Nissan’s V-Motion grille, flanked by sleek triple-projector LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights and LED fog lamps. The sculpted front bumper has been shaped with aerodynamics in mind, incorporating air curtains at each corner to improve stability and reduce body movement.

Along the sides, reworked surfaces create a strong shoulder line while retaining the Serena’s signature stepped window profile, with slim pillars, a low window sill and large glass areas ensuring excellent visibility for all three rows of passengers. At the rear, a redesigned tailgate features boomerang-shaped LED taillights joined by a chrome strip, with the Serena nameplate positioned prominently above.

At the heart of the new Serena is Nissan’s second-generation e-POWER system, which sees the MPV driven entirely by an electric motor. This delivers the smooth, instant response associated with electric vehicles, without the need for external charging. Power comes from a high-output electric motor producing 163PS and 315Nm, while a 1.4-litre three-cylinder petrol engine works quietly in the background purely as a generator. Equipped with Nissan’s Mirror Bore Coating technology, the engine runs at optimal efficiency to charge a 1.77 kWh lithium-ion battery or supply electricity directly to the motor when required, eliminating range anxiety altogether.

Drivers can choose from Standard, Sport and Eco drive modes, while the e-Pedal Step function allows for near single-pedal driving in urban conditions, improving convenience and energy regeneration. Fuel consumption is rated at 18.5 km per litre under the NEDC cycle, giving the Serena e-POWER a potential driving range of up to 1,000 kilometres.

Refinement has been a major focus for this new generation. With the low noise levels of an electric drive system highlighting any remaining mechanical sounds, Nissan has added extensive insulation to the floor, dashboard and doors, along with an acoustic front windscreen. The result is a calmer cabin with reduced engine, road and wind noise. To further improve comfort, especially for passengers prone to motion sickness, the Serena e-POWER features an all-new front suspension setup and an upgraded electric steering system with increased rigidity, helping to minimise body roll and improve stability.

Braking performance has also been fine-tuned for smoother, more progressive deceleration. Aerodynamic improvements reduce drag and crosswind sensitivity, while redesigned Zero Gravity seats in the front and second rows help reduce fatigue, limit head movement and improve overall support on long journeys.

Inside, the Serena continues to lead on space and versatility, while embracing a more premium, tech-focused layout. The dashboard is dominated by dual 12.3-inch colour displays, complemented by a flat-bottom leather steering wheel. A new central touch panel handles drive modes and climate control, while gear selection is managed via physical buttons on an electronic shift selector.

True to its MPV roots, the Serena offers 13 seating configurations, a walk-through cabin layout, two-way sliding captain’s chairs, hands-free sliding doors and Nissan’s signature dual-back door. Practical touches include fold-out trays and seat hooks for second-row passengers, USB ports across all three rows and a wireless charging pad in the centre console.

Safety remains a core strength. The Serena e-POWER comes fully equipped with six airbags, a 360-degree Around View Monitor and a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems under Nissan Intelligent Mobility and the 360° Safety Shield. ProPILOT features such as Intelligent Cruise Control, Intelligent Lane Intervention and Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention are designed to reduce driver fatigue, particularly during long highway journeys or stop-start traffic.

Ahead of its official launch, the All-New Nissan Serena e-POWER will be available for preview at selected Edaran Tan Chong Motor showrooms nationwide. The model is scheduled to be launched in Malaysia in March 2026, and interest has already been strong, with around 400 bookings recorded so far, signalling solid demand for Nissan’s latest take on the family MPV. The All-New Nissan Serena e-POWER is expected to be priced between RM160,000 and RM180,000.
