Honda claims the new logo is meant to resemble two outstretched hands, perhaps Soichiro’s activating the VTEC under your hood.

Nonetheless, Honda has now gone on to clarify that the new logo will slowly find its way into other parts of its business and form a new corporate identity. Not only will this include all future production models, starting in 2027, but also appear on other business arms such as dealerships and motorsports.

The Honda logo is globally recognised, not just adoring some of our favourite models like the Civic Type-R, the NSX, S2000 and CR-Z but also household models such as the Civic, CR-V and City as well as the discontinued Accord.

It is not the first makeover for the marque though as the current rounded square gets phased out. Part of the redesign sees the square ring binned and the ‘H’ stretched to resembled the hands.

Once the Zero Series concepts make their way into production, the pair should be the first to sport the new logo. While the logo has been refreshed a few times, this is the first time since 1981 that it has made significant changes to the original, itself introduced in 1963.

One cannot help but wonder if the iconic ‘Type-R’ insignia is in line for a little refresh as well down the road.
