Malaysians will be required to pay a small fee of RM 20 if they wish to obtain a physical copy of the license, on top of the annual renewal cost depending on the amount of years. Non-citizens however will be charged RM 100.
If you opt not to acquire a physical copy, you will still be able to access it via the MyJPJ app on your smartphone. Furthermore, you can still continue to renew your driver’s license via the app if you do not have a need for the physical copy.
For those that prefer the convenience of having a physical copy, you can head over to any JPJ counter or Urban Transportation Centre (UTC) to make the application.

- Senior citizens aged 60 and above
- Holders of a Class A or A1 license
- Disabled persons (OKU) registered with the Department of Social Welfare
The switch to a digital license was made three years ago on February 2023 due to a shortage of the cards and to update the process. As of now, the MyJPJ mobile app claims over 13 million users, demonstrating mass acceptance in the shift towards a paperless world.
