The all-electric automotive brand smart has officially introduced the smart #5 at a world premiere event in Byron Bay, Australia. The smart #5, with a length of 4,705 mm and a wheelbase of 2,900 mm, features premium styling elements such as dual-coloured mirrors, floating wheel caps, and a smart logo on the D-pillar. The SUV also debuts the exclusive Adventurers’ Collection, which includes practical features like a roof light bar, electric trailer hitch, and underbody protection for enhanced utility.
The interior of the smart #5 is designed with high-tech and luxurious elements, including zero-gravity seats with integrated airbags, ambient lighting with 256 colour options, a Sennheiser Signature Sound System with 20 speakers, and entertainment features such as a built-in projector. The vehicle also offers ample storage space, including a 72-litre frunk and a spacious rear storage area of up to 1,530 litres.
The smart #5 integrates advanced HMI technologies, including a 25.6-inch Augmented Reality Head-up Display and multiple high-resolution screens. A generative AI voice assistant, powered by an AMD V2000 chip, allows for seamless control of key functions via voice commands, adding to the overall intelligent and interactive driving experience.
Performance-wise, the smart #5 is equipped with an 800-volt platform and a 100kWh battery capable of supercharging up to 70% in just 15 minutes, with a range exceeding 740km. The vehicle also features multiple driving modes, including options for on-road and off-road terrains, making it versatile for various conditions.
Additionally, smart has partnered with brands like Trek and HEIMPLANET to create a range of premium outdoor products inspired by the smart #5, including a custom bicycle and tent. The vehicle also benefits from a collaboration with Sennheiser, offering an immersive audio experience through their AMBEO technology.
The smart #5 will be launched and delivered in Europe starting in early 2025, solidifying smart’s presence in the premium electric SUV market.
