The Mugen Super-One was first displayed at Tokyo Auto Salon and the full catalogue includes a punk-rock inspired full-body kit, interior bits and suspension upgrades. However, while they might help the driver eke out a little more cornering speed on a good day, the extensive list does not actually make any more power.

While Honda Malaysia has never offered tuning accessories for its performance models here, other parties are more than welcomed to bring the Mugen parts in.

Still, if you cannot go fast, may as well look good going slow. The body kit comprises a huge front spoiler on the chin, a vented hood, side skirts and a set of vented wide fender extensions that sit over the 16-inch forged aluminium wheels.

No performance look is complete without a spoiler, and the Mugen kit adds one at the rear that works well with the rear bumper add-on. Finishing the cosmetic upgrades are a pair of mirror caps and a ton of Mugen badges and decals. All exterior bits are crafted from carbon fibre.

On the handling front, Mugen worked with Yamaha of all people for the performance dampers that bring a nice little drop in ride height.

Mugen has been using plenty of Recaro seats in its builds recently and the theme continues with Mugen-branded Recaro SR-S seats. The steering gets a centre marker while the rest of the cabin is fitted with Mugen floor mats, scuff plates and kick plates made from carbon fibre.

Unfortunately, Mugen is not quite ready to fettle with the electric motor yet. That means all that show will still be powered by just 95 PS and 162 Nm of go.

Nonetheless, Honda has given the Super-One Active Sound Control and a simulated gear shift to emulate the feeling of an internal combustion engine with faux sounds and torque limiting, just like the Prelude. Maybe the tuning industry will work on the motor’s output itself and make more power or torque.

For now, we pray the Super-One reached Malaysia and that the Mugen parts, all still under development, will be easy on the wallet (it probably won’t) when it is launched in Japan in late May 2026.
