The proposed Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link (PJD Link) highway project in Selangor has been a topic of debate and discussion among residents, state assemblymen, and the Selangor government.
Ketidakpastian Mengelilingi Nasib Projek PJD Link

Dr. Afif Bahardin, an assemblyman for Taman Medan from Perikatan Nasional, has called for the immediate implementation of the project, citing the agreement of several residents’ associations on the need for the highway, according to FMT. However, concerns have been raised by residents in Petaling Jaya, with nearly 50% of complaints coming from this area, according to a social impact assessment report.

In response to these concerns, Selangor executive councillor Izham Hashim stated that residents in Puchong seemed more agreeable with the project, leading the state government to consider improvements to the highway alignment. This decision followed a call by Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari for the project developer to renegotiate the alignment with the federal government, as residents in some areas supported the project while others rejected it.

The proposed PJD Link would connect the north and south of Petaling Jaya, passing through various neighbourhoods. The project received initial approval from the Cabinet in 2017, and the state government also approved it in principle in 2020, pending impact assessment reports. However, last year, Amirudin stated that the Pakatan Harapan state government had decided to scrap the project.

The project’s fate remains uncertain, with calls for further assessment and negotiation to address the concerns of residents and stakeholders in affected areas.
