Mercedes-Benz has strengthened its presence in the Asia-Pacific with the inauguration of its Regional Logistics Center Malaysia (RLCM) in Senai Airport City. Managed by Mercedes-Benz Parts Logistics Asia Pacific Sdn. Bhd., this new facility will streamline logistics across 20 countries, enhancing after-sales service and logistics efficiency in the region.
Jan Fischer, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Parts Logistics Asia Pacific, emphasised the strategic significance of this investment for customer care and Malaysia’s role as a logistics hub, underlining its impact on operational efficiency and Malaysia’s skilled workforce. Johor Chief Minister, YAB Dato’ Onn Hafiz Ghazi, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the centre’s contribution to Johor’s economic growth and its role in developing local talent.
MIDA CEO Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid praised Mercedes-Benz’s decision to select Malaysia as a core logistics hub, aligning with Malaysia’s Global Services Hub ambitions under the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (12MP). He stressed that this milestone attracts top-tier investments, creating high-skilled jobs for Malaysians and further cementing Malaysia’s appeal as an investment destination.
Strategic Investment and Expansion
With a paid-up capital of RM189 million and plans to expand investments to RM1.5 billion by 2035, Mercedes-Benz is set to progressively grow this facility, enhancing logistics capacity to support future expansion.
Facility Features and Sustainability
The RLCM spans over 1 million square feet, equipped with state-of-the-art logistics technologies such as in-house warehouse management systems, VNA storage, and mobile workstations. The facility also utilises autonomous forklifts, cleaning robots, and plans further automation, including drones and dimensional scanners.
Aligned with Mercedes-Benz’s sustainability goals, the RLCM is on track to achieve carbon neutrality by 2039. This commitment is evident in the on-site photovoltaic system for renewable energy and the pursuit of Green Building Index (GBI) certification. Adhering to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards, the facility exemplifies sustainable logistics practices, actively monitoring energy, waste, and water consumption in line with Mercedes-Benz’s Environmental, Social, and Governance Reporting Standards (ESRS).

The RLCM also benefits Malaysia by creating high-value employment opportunities, supporting skills development in logistics and supply chain management, and contributing to the country’s economic advancement through workforce training and upskilling.
