Think you are looking at something alien? Or maybe even extraterrestrial? Well, you might be right. This slither of exhaust headers curves around the brand-new V12 engine made by the Italian folk at De Tomaso Automobili for their upcoming P900 supercar.
This engine has been years in the making and we can finally behold it in all its glory. The V12 engine is destined to be planted into P900, which will only be produced in limited numbers, just 18 to be exact.
This savage that they call an engine revs up to 12,300 RPM and produces an impressive 900 HP. It features a 12-1 intake which only further adds to the fury of noise that this thing will make when it hits the road.
De Tomaso did not pluck the 900 figure out of this air. The alphanumeric name stems from the 900 HP and the car’s weight at slightly shy of 900 KG, which would give it a power to weight ratio of 1000 HP per ton.
You can bet the P900 will not be cheap. The P900 will cost an eye watering USD 3 million. In terms of pricing, it sits among good company with the Pagani Huayra R and the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro.
One thing that stands out about the P900, never mind that beautiful V12, is that the supercar will be in many ways more analogue and rawer compared to its digitised competitors. The V12 will not be getting any fancy or high-tech hybrid systems or even turbocharging for that matter, it will be all natural. Adding to that point, the P900 will be produced solely as a rear-wheel drive.
We cannot wait to hear this thing fire up and revved to the moon.
