In those markets, the Jaecoo J5 EV is powered by a front-mounted electric motor producing 211 PS and 288 Nm. The setup enables a 0 to 100 km/h time of 7.7 seconds and a top speed of 175 km/h. Power comes from a 58.9 kWh battery, offering up to 461 km of range on the NEDC cycle, or around 400 km under the WLTP standard.

In Indonesia, the J5 EV supports DC fast charging at up to 130 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 30 to 80% in 28 minutes. Vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality is also included, with output of up to 3.3 kW to power electrical devices or appliances.

Practicality figures include a 35-litre front storage compartment and a rear boot offering 480 litres of space. With the rear seats folded, luggage capacity expands to 1,284 litres.

Equipment seen on overseas versions includes 18-inch alloy wheels, panoramic glass roof with powered sunshade, powered tailgate, synthetic leather upholstery, powered front seats with ventilation, a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen and an eight-inch digital instrument cluster.

Other features include an eight-speaker audio system, 64-colour ambient lighting, six airbags, 50W wireless phone charger and telematics.
On the safety front, the J5 EV gets an ADAS suite with 17 functions, including autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring and more.

The Jaecoo J5 EV is priced from 249.9 million to 299.9 million rupiah in Indonesia, which works out to around RM 56k to RM 67k. In Thailand, prices range from 549,000 to 679,000 baht, or around RM 67k to RM 83k.

Of course, Malaysian pricing will depend on final specifications, duties, incentives and market positioning. For reference, the petrol-powered Jaecoo J5 is priced from RM 108,000.
