Ferrari has revealed a one-off Tailor Made 12Cilindri that pushes its personalisation programme to new heights, turning its V12 flagship into a piece of road-going art created exclusively for the South Korean market. The car stands as a celebration of craftsmanship, culture and innovation, blending Ferrari’s design heritage with contemporary Korean artistry in a way
This unique project was shaped through a rare collaboration spanning three continents. Asia provided the creative soul through the work of five young South Korean artists, Daehye Jeong, Hyunhee Kim, GRAYCODE, jiiiiin and TaeHyun Lee, each acting as an ambassador for their local heritage. Europe contributed Ferrari’s own Styling Centre, while North America added creative direction and cultural insight through COOL HUNTING, the independent publication known for its focus on design, technology and modern culture. The result was the product of nearly two years of close collaboration, bringing together engineering precision, artistic experimentation and cultural storytelling.
Visually, the 12Cilindri stands apart thanks to a newly developed transitional paint finish known as Yoonseul. Inspired by Korean tradition, the colour draws from the soft green tones of historic celadon ceramics while also reflecting the energy of modern Seoul, with its neon-lit streets, electronic music scene and K-pop culture. The iridescent finish shifts between green and violet with hints of blue, echoing the sparkle of sunlight dancing on water, which is exactly what the word “Yoonseul” describes in Korean.
Inside, the car becomes a canvas for traditional craftsmanship reimagined through modern materials. Artist Daehye Jeong, a Loewe Foundation Craft Prize winner recognised internationally for her textile and fibre art, brought traditional horsehair weaving into the cabin. Her signature patterns appear on the seats, floor and soft interior surfaces, recreated in a new three-dimensional fabric developed by a South Korean company and used in a Ferrari for the first time. The same pattern is screen-printed onto the glass roof, allowing light to cast shifting shadows into the cabin, another first for the brand. Most striking of all is a hand-woven artwork made from Mongolian horsehair, ethically sourced through certified suppliers, which sits proudly on the dashboard, marking the first time a true art piece has been integrated into a Ferrari interior.
Hyunhee Kim’s work adds another layer of identity to the car, both inside and out. Known for reinterpreting traditional Korean objects using translucent materials, her influence is visible in the Scuderia Ferrari shields, wheel caps, the elongated Ferrari nameplate and the Prancing Horse emblem, all finished with a semi-transparent effect never before seen on a Tailor Made Ferrari. Inside, the centre tunnel features the same visual treatment, along with a handcrafted dedication plate bearing the project’s name in traditional calligraphy. Kim also created a bespoke case for the boot, designed to store meaningful personal items and usable as luggage, complete with a Ferrari key customised in her distinctive visual language.
White plays a central role in the design theme, inspired by the artistic practice of TaeHyun Lee. Renowned for his contemporary use of traditional Korean lacquer techniques, Lee reimagined these methods using white lacquer to create surfaces with remarkable depth and gloss. His influence can be seen in the 12Cilindri’s white brake callipers, a first for a factory Ferrari, as well as the white shift paddles, bringing a subtle yet striking contrast to the car’s overall aesthetic.
Sound and movement were translated into visual form by GRAYCODE and jiiiiin, a South Korean duo known for blending electronic music, performance and technology. They transformed the sound of Ferrari’s iconic V12 engine into a visual pattern applied to the exterior livery. Crafted by Maranello’s artisans, this design uses the same transitional paint as the main bodywork, but in a darker shade, creating depth and movement across the surface in a way never previously attempted on a Ferrari.
The entire project was guided and coordinated by Evan Orensten and Josh Rubin of COOL HUNTING®, working closely with curator JaeEun “Jane” Lee and Ferrari’s design and R&D teams. Since its founding in 2003, COOL HUNTING® has built a reputation as a global platform for discovering innovation across design, art, technology and lifestyle, and that curatorial mindset is evident throughout this extraordinary 12Cilindri.
In the end, this Tailor Made Ferrari is far more than a personalised car. It is a statement piece that merges Italian performance with Korean culture, craftsmanship and contemporary art, showing just how far Ferrari’s vision of personalisation can go when tradition and innovation meet.
