BYD Cars Malaysia has confirmed that its recent “Faster, Further, Smarter” teaser refers to the 2026 BYD Atto 3 facelift. The updated electric SUV is now set to launch in Malaysia on 5 June 2026, based on the company’s latest social media post.
This confirms earlier speculation that the teaser was pointing towards an updated Atto 3. The model has received several updates globally, although the key question remains: which version will Malaysia get?
In regional markets, the updated Atto 3 continues to use BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 with a front-wheel drive layout. Output remains at 204 PS and 310 Nm, with a 0 to 100 km/h time of 7.3 seconds. The 60.48 kWh Blade LFP battery is also carried over, offering a quoted WLTP range of 420 km.
For this version, the main technical upgrade is improved DC fast charging, increased from 88 kW to 105 kW. AC charging remains at 7 kW, while suspension continues with MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link setup at the rear.
By comparison, the European-market Atto 3 Evo receives more significant mechanical changes. It adopts an 800V electrical architecture, switches to rear-wheel drive and produces 313 PS. The Atto 3 Evo also gets a larger 74.8 kWh battery, up to 510 km of WLTP range and DC fast charging of up to 220 kW.
Exterior and interior changes are broadly shared across updated versions of the Atto 3. These include redesigned front and rear bumpers, updated D-pillars, revised taillights, a larger rear spoiler, a steering column-mounted gear selector, a larger 8.8-inch instrument display and a simplified dashboard layout. The rotating function of the 15.6-inch infotainment display has also been removed.
There is also a newer and larger Atto 3 that was recently shown in China at the Beijing Auto Show 2026, but that’s obviously not the model shown in the image.
We’ll have our answer along with details, including Malaysian specifications and pricing, when the 2026 BYD Atto 3 is launched on 5 June.
