Dunlop is expanding its presence in Malaysia, with its nationwide dealer network growing by more than 30% in just a few months.
According to Toyotsu Binter Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Dunlop has grown from approximately 150 outlets to more than 200 outlets nationwide since May 2026. The company says the expansion reflects stronger confidence from dealers and automotive service partners as the brand increases its reach in Malaysia.
Dunlop’s latest expansion also comes as the replacement tyre market in Malaysia continues to evolve. Demand is growing for tyres that deliver safety, performance and value across passenger cars, SUVs and electric vehicles.
Dunlop has had a long history in Malaysia. In 1963, the company became the first tyre manufacturer to establish local production in the country. Today, the brand is distributed in Malaysia under Toyotsu Binter Malaysia, with engineering support from Sumitomo Rubber Industries. The company says its focus is to make premium tyre technology more accessible while strengthening Dunlop’s position in a competitive tyre market.
Marcus Lim, Managing Director of Toyotsu Binter Malaysia, said Malaysia is an important market for Dunlop, with the company seeing opportunities for long-term growth. “Motorists are looking for products that deliver quality, safety and performance, but they also expect genuine value. That is where we see Dunlop’s opportunity. Our ambition is to establish Dunlop as an emerging premium brand by making premium performance accessible to more Malaysian motorists,” he said.
The company says its growth strategy goes beyond simply increasing retail presence. Dunlop wants to be available through established tyre dealers, automotive service centres and future retail channels that improve convenience and accessibility.
To support the strategy, Dunlop is expanding its product portfolio across key market segments. Its current line-up includes the Blue Response TG for everyday passenger vehicles, the SP Sport Maxx 060+ for drivers seeking stronger performance and handling, and the Grandtrek R/T01 for SUVs and pickup trucks.
The company is also preparing to introduce the e.Sport Maxx, a tyre developed to meet the performance requirements of electric vehicles.
Beyond the replacement tyre market, Dunlop continues to support original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners. The company currently supplies tyres for selected models from Toyota, Lexus, Isuzu, Mazda and Leapmotor.
Toyotsu Binter Malaysia and Sumitomo Rubber Industries say they are committed to maintaining product quality, supply chain reliability and customer support for OEM programmes.
As vehicle technologies continue to change, Dunlop says it will continue supporting motorists across internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid and electric vehicles, with tyres engineered for safety, comfort, durability and driving confidence.
Takehiko Asai, Managing Director of Sumitomo Rubber Asia (Tyre) Pte. Ltd., said Dunlop’s future continues to be guided by the spirit of innovation that has shaped the brand for more than 130 years.
“Today, our focus extends beyond conventional tyre development. We are investing in next-generation technologies that enhance energy efficiency, improve wet-weather grip, reduce rolling resistance and cabin noise, while exploring intelligent tyre technologies that will support the future of connected and electrified mobility,” he said.
With Malaysia identified as a key growth market, Dunlop says it will continue investing in its dealer network, introducing products developed for local driving conditions and strengthening partnerships across the automotive aftermarket.
