The Denza Z production EV supercar has been revealed in Coupe, Spider and Racing versions, with a triple-motor setup producing 1,604 PS and 1,240 Nm.

Denza has revealed the production version of the Z, its all-electric supercar, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Denza Z is the brand’s flagship performance model and will be offered in Coupe, Spider and Racing versions. A more extreme Special Edition is also being prepared, with Denza planning Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record attempts later this year.

All three main versions of the Z use Denza’s e3 Sports Car Platform and a triple-motor setup. This consists of one front motor and two rear motors, producing a combined 1,604 PS and 1,240 Nm.

The front motor alone makes 680 PS and 440 Nm, while each rear motor produces 462 PS and 410 Nm. The twin rear motors are part of what Denza describes as the world’s first 15-in-1 fully integrated electric drive unit.

In Coupe form, the Z can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 2.25 seconds and reach a top speed of 186 mph, or around 300 km/h. The Spider does the same sprint in 2.3 seconds.

The Racing version records the same 2.25-second sprint in standard form, but with the optional semi-slick tyre package, the 0 to 62 mph time drops to 1.96 seconds. Top speed also increases to 217 mph, or around 349 km/h.

The Z Special Edition takes things further with more than 2,000 PS and a claimed 0 to 62 mph time of under 1.7 seconds. Denza says more technical details for this version will be released later.

All versions use a 76 kWh second-generation BYD Blade Battery with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry and Cell-to-Body integration. WLTP range is listed at 254 miles for the Coupe, 248 miles for the Spider and 236 miles for the Racing, which works out to about 409 km, 399 km and 380 km respectively.

Denza says the Z supports BYD Group’s Flash Charging technology, which can deliver up to 1,500 kW through a single connector. This allows the Z to charge from 10 to 70% in five minutes, or from 10 to 97% in nine minutes. Denza says even in -30°C conditions, the Z can charge from 20 to 97% in 12 minutes.

Underneath, the Z uses DiSus-M magnetorheological suspension, a first for the e3 Sports Car Platform. The Coupe and Spider use air suspension, while the Racing version gets coil springs for a more track-focused setup.

All versions also get carbon-ceramic drilled brake discs, with Denza claiming a total unsprung mass saving of around 30 kg. The brakes use six-piston front and four-piston rear fixed calipers.

Denza says the Z’s Vehicle Motion Control system manages the braking, suspension and steering systems with a signal transmission time of as little as 10 milliseconds. The car also gets a Tyre Burst Control System, which can adjust torque delivery to help stabilise the vehicle if a tyre failure is detected.

In terms of size, the Coupe and Spider measure 4,780 mm long and 1,975 mm wide, with a 2,780 mm wheelbase. The Coupe is 1,330 mm tall, while the Spider is slightly taller at 1,350 mm. The Racing version is longer and wider, measuring 4,870 mm long, 1,990 mm wide and 1,350 mm tall.

The Racing version also gets larger air intakes, a multi-duct cooling system, carbon fibre front splitter, underfloor vortex generators, additional vents and an optional three-position adjustable carbon fibre rear wing. Denza says it can generate up to 1,060 kg of downforce at 217 mph (349 km/h).

Inside, the Z gets a four-seat layout, which gives it a different brief from many two-seat supercars. Boot space is rated at 250 litres for the Coupe and Racing, expandable to 550 litres with the rear seats folded. The Spider offers between 131 and 176 litres.

The cabin features an 8.88-inch digital instrument display, a 12.8-inch infotainment screen with Google built-in, wireless smartphone charging, a digital rear-view mirror and a Devialet sound system. The Coupe and Racing get 12 speakers, while the Spider gets 10.

Standard equipment includes heated, ventilated and massaging front seats, power-assisted soft-closing doors, Vehicle-to-Load, ambient lighting, remote access through the Denza app and Dolby Atmos support for the audio system.

There are also Boost and Track modes. Boost mode increases throttle torque by 30% for 20 seconds, while Track mode opens a dedicated app with lap data, launch control, drift settings and adjustable vehicle dynamics.

The Denza Z will be offered in selected markets, with orders for the Coupe, Spider and Racing versions opening this summer. First deliveries are expected before the end of the year.

In the UK, the Denza Z is reportedly priced from £142,900 for the Coupe, £159,900 for the Spider and £172,900 for the Racing. That works out to roughly RM 700k, RM 873k and RM 944k.
