The fifth edition of Toyota SYI Outrun drew over 7,500 participants across its 5 km, 10 km and 21 km categories, raising RM 200,000 for NCSM.

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has concluded the Toyota Start Your Impossible (SYI) Outrun 2026, with the annual charity run raising RM 200,000 in support of the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM).

Held on Sunday, 5 July 2026 at Dataran Wawasan, Putrajaya, the fifth edition of Toyota SYI Outrun attracted over 7,500 participants across three categories. The event featured a 5 km Fun Run, 10 km Competitive Run and 21 km Half Marathon, welcoming families, first-time runners, returning participants and competitive runners.

According to UMWT, the 2026 edition saw strong participation in the competitive categories, with 2,200 runners taking part in the 10 km Competitive Run and 1,800 runners participating in the 21 km Half Marathon.

The competitive races also offered a total prize pool worth RM 138,000, awarded to the top 10 finishers across the competitive categories. Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor, said the fifth edition is significant because of the consistent support behind it.

“What makes this fifth edition significant is the consistency of support behind it. Toyota SYI Outrun has become a mid-year run that Malaysians return to because it is accessible, positive and connected to a cause that continues to matter,” he said.

He added that the event reflects UMWT’s focus on building community initiatives over time, where each edition strengthens participation, awareness and practical support for organisations such as NCSM.

Toyota SYI Outrun has supported causes linked to wellness and inclusivity since it was first introduced in 2019. It began with support for the Paralympic Council of Malaysia, before continuing in recent editions with NCSM.

This year’s event also marked Muhammad Ammar Aiman Nor Azmi’s first appearance at a UMWT event following his official debut into the Global Team Toyota Athlete (GTTA) programme.

Ammar, a Johor-born para sprinter and Asian Para Games gold medallist, is part of Toyota’s global platform for athletes who embody the spirit of challenging limits and inspiring positive change beyond competition.

UMWT said the event forms part of Toyota’s global Start Your Impossible initiative, which aims to encourage Malaysians to stay active, participate in community causes and support a more inclusive society.
