Keeping the Fiat 500 in Turin
The Fiat 500, a popular city car in Europe, will continue to be made at the Mirafiori plant in Turin, Italy, beyond 2030. Stellantis’ European Chief, Jean-Philippe Imparato, says this decision ensures the plant stays busy and important to the company. In November 2025, a new hybrid version of the Fiat 500, called the Fiat 500 Ibrida, will be introduced to give buyers more choices.
Boosting the Fiat 500 Lineup
To make the Fiat 500 more appealing, Stellantis is working on electric and hybrid versions. The goal is to produce 100,000 cars a year. The electric 500e hasn’t sold as well as expected, partly because people are unsure about switching to electric cars. Many buyers are hesitating due to the economy and uncertainty about whether to choose electric, hybrid, or petrol-powered cars.
Stellantis hopes that adding a hybrid option will make the Fiat 500 more attractive, especially for city drivers in Europe.

Imparato reassured that no factories in Italy would close and highlighted the Mirafiori plant’s key role in producing parts for hybrid cars that are shipped worldwide.
