In response, PLUS is urging motorists to plan their journeys carefully to ensure a smoother and safer drive. Advance planning is being encouraged, particularly through the MyPLUS-TTA digital itinerary feature available on the PLUS mobile application, which helps users choose optimal travel times and identify suitable rest stops along their route.

The highway operator is placing strong emphasis on driver wellbeing, stressing that proper rest plays a crucial role in road safety. Its network of Rest and Service (R&R) areas is designed to go beyond being simple pit stops, offering facilities aimed at making long journeys more comfortable for all road users. These include clean toilets, surau, children’s playgrounds and baby-changing rooms, creating a more family-friendly environment.

The R&R locations also provide a wide range of food and beverage options, from local favourites to well-known brands, giving travellers the chance to refuel both themselves and their vehicles before continuing their journey. PLUS highlighted that these facilities are particularly important for families travelling with young children, elderly passengers or anyone who needs to take breaks more frequently.

With traffic volumes expected to remain high throughout the festive season, PLUS hopes that better planning, regular rest stops and mindful driving will help reduce congestion and ensure that holiday journeys are safer and more comfortable for everyone on the road.
